Yessir, my first car. It’s now my weekend toy, I’ll never sell it.
I guess they were going for the 80’s look to bring in the Gen X’rs. Very Wynn.
Nice username. Is that yours?
I would have thought they would try to get it done before the last IBMA festival in September!
With the Holiday Inn not taking reservations past end of September, it sounds like downtown Raleigh will have a net gain of 0 hotels for the time being…
Still no lobby glass!!
I took this picture 1 year ago today. Nice to see it only took a year to get the rest of the exterior trim up…

The building progress is going fairly great. got some insight as far as competition is within 2-3 months. city is giving push back on certain scopes of work. parking is being cleaned now.
2-3 months from completion will put it right around 3 years from when they broke ground lol
and 11 years from when they first submitted plans to the City. They were approved and then collected dust…
While it’s kinda “blah” now, I have the feeling it will sit in much nicer (as in, inoffensive added density) once it’s surrounded by towers: Nash Sq tower (if that ever actually happens), and Firestone lot most likely before anything else - then the empty parking lots along McDowell.
Really hated losing that Firestone building. We only have so many of those old tire places left…
