They look like some variety of jessamine (Southern jasmine). It’s a climbing vine/bush that takes over everything. I had them in my backyard on the fence for awhile.
Yes, I believe it’s Star Jasmine.
Can someone climb up those? Looks like a security hazard.

Just in time for something to get built in that parking lot that will kill it all.
Replying to this rendering / hotel site - anyone know if this is still the plan for the hotel on the Wilmington side of the Acorn ?
Lord in Heaven, I hope not
I’d love to know more about this as well. There’s still labeling mentioning the hotel in the Acorn, so I’d imagine they still have plans to move forward. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised they didn’t try to tackle this quickly after the apartment was structurally finished since now the residents on that side of the building are going to have to face construction.
I’m in agreement on the bland cookie cutter Towne Place look but, I’m not sure Summit Hospitality does much that’s gonna resonate as architecturally inspiring. With the rezoning to 7 floors beside the Masonic Temple, both of these together make places from bare lots…that’s something
Hown does Durham get it done? Lol

Though they don’t look very full yet, they seem to be healthy and growing pretty quickly.
It’s hard to see in the photo, but the longest tendrils reach about 3/4 of the way up the first floor. They may still not look like much by the end of this year, but they seem like they’ve rooted well and I wouldn’t be surprised if by end of summer next year the deck is mostly covered
So Boot & Trunk next to the Acorn moved out, and Little Native Coffee is expanding to the other side. I think it’s going to be a little art gallery in the front, and (confirmed) a speakeasy in the back like The Greenlight. Hard to take a picture but looks like they have half the space blocked off with bookcases that I imagine will have a door to the back.
