Please don’t let us turn into Charlotte with no sense of history or where they came from.
I came from New York…
I see this rezoning for the Tuesday, Aug 16 council meeting. They’ll probably just set a date for a public hearing.

We don’t want them to destroy we don’t want them to be seen for example Seaboard station builds it but makes sure the train station gets no attention.
Try it on a bicycle!!!
My writeup on the Depot rezoning. I pretty much end it by saying:
It’s not great but it feels like a strong compromise.
You have a blog??? Weird…
That’s a very good write-up of this project. Thanks!
My twin brother writes it. We have the same name too.
And, I have it on good authority that the NCRR is going to move from their leased space at Highwoods to some part of the Cabarrus Street property.
For us laymen here… what does this mean LMAO
Without full intel, but there is the implication that the NCRR headquarters operation would be on land that they have owned for over 150 years and adjacent to their mainline track.
…but what does this mean? hahaha
Like they will take part of the office building proposed for this site?
It means some jazzy railroad engineers will be gracing DTR with their charismatic swagger.
Hopefully it means they’ll focus on the west st extension
As I understand the information shared, yes.
According to WakeGov, 320 W Cabarrus Street has been solely owned by the NCRR continuously since 07-03-1874.
Holy crap! I wonder what they paid for it, or did they trade some pigs and tobacco leaves for it?
Hard to say. But, that’s probably one of the precious few pieces of property in town with that claim, outside of maybe the State House.
Now, The Depot (327 W Davie) has ownership title with the NCRR going back just as far to 1874. But, there must have been some reorganization issues with the company as there was a transactional change in 2013.
