Yeah instead of random color they’ve gone with various shade of grey (which is admittedly better). And a personal pet peeve is that they don’t make the curtain walls a grid - its just broken vertical lines everywhere, which emphasizes the horizontal and makes the building look squattier.
Still, yes, very happy they’ve avoided the stucco everywhere but the base.
I actually have started to like this a little. I feel like it’s a thing in some European and US cities where there’s modern buildings. But whenever it’s proposed for Raleigh, it seems to not actually get built. We’ll see if it takes off here (much to your chagrin)
And also how much construction is going on in the area. This one view shows the Weld, Rockway, and Gateway project all under construction. Also Gibson part of Dix construction is going on the other direction too.
EDIT I stand corrected, you can also see 320 W. South Street under construction from this view too.
This shot might just be the most significant change downtown Raleigh has seen in years. This is literally 5-6 separate buildings going up in one small shot! Incredible!
