Wells Fargo Building

When the signage of Two Hanover Square (offical name of BB&T building) gets updated to Truist, at least it will be fun to see the helicopters bring up the new signage!

Is it just me or does anybody else besides me think two Hanover square is basically a pretty ugly clunky building?. It’s not that old , only built in 91 but man I think it’s :face_vomiting: Even though it’s decent height.

It looks like a 70s building you’d see in a less up and coming southern city to me. I think it’ll look much better when it just compliments other buildings around it.

BB&T was known for building nearly the ugliest building in every skyline in NC so what they are doing in Charlotte stays on brand

BB&T sucks. They screwed Winston-Salem which was unnecessary with this merger.

Then they gave it that stupid name.

They will be bought by JP Morgan within 5 years.

When both it and the Wells building were built in the early 90s, I liked the Wells building better. Since then, I have come to appreciate the BB&T building more. I don’t think it’s horrible.

I, too, like the BB&T building. The big green ā€œsmokestacksā€ on top remind me of Gotham City for some reason. I always imagine Batman crouched on top, watching over us… waiting.

It has more characteristics of a classical skyscraper, and it’s not just a glass box.

If we could only combine the two designs and have one at about 40 stories. :exploding_head: :astonished:  :eggplant:

I’m kinda in the same school of thought as @John. The WF building always disappeared at night because it was so dark. I have not seen it since they have upgraded the lighting. I really wish they would have included a dome/spire/something on the top of the WF building. It looks incomplete IMO.

I disagree. I think it is a pretty cool building. I like the classic stepbacks and I think the top gives it character. It is actually probably my favorite looking tall building in Raleigh.

of the ā€œBig 3ā€ for sure. Too bad 121 Fayetteville is no longer gonna make it a ā€œBig 4ā€

It’s the ugliest tall building downtown to me. All that concrete and the seafoam green top look awful. I feel like Wells Fargo looks pretty decent, and I like PNC. Apparently I’m in the minority.

Yea I have some very personal reasons for hatting their move from WS. . So will not likely deal with them again.

It’s reminds me of that too, especially at night when there is fog / low clouds rolling by.

My credit union? They are building some tall new building on St Albans and Wake Forest Rd. I’ll see how it turns out…

Mine too  I am looking forward to seeing a rendering one of these days.

I hope it will interact well with Midtown X-Change across the street.

Wait, what building are we talking about

Coastal Credit Union is supposed to be working on a high-rise on the current property on St. Albans across from Midtown Xchange. I have no idea what it looks like (height, floors, etc.) or what the timeline is, though.
