Wow, two months for the (replacement) Taco spot to bail…? No bueno.
Yeah, as expected, none of these retail spaces (in this strip) are going to have success while the endless Seaboard construction continues. I do think @GucciLittlePig has a point that they might as well stop leasing/renewing leases in the spaces in that little strip and just redevelop it when all those businesses move on (hopefully by actually moving to a better location that won’t cause them so much lost potential).
My optometrist is in there (and is actually the only place in that strip I’ve been to, despite going to Logan’s and Ace a bunch). So that’s nice.
This is 100% what they should do at this point. Bad Daddy’s, Hunky Dory and Tide all are doing everything right, and still suffering for it. The taco place was pretty good (as was the previous one). It just screams external headwinds that no business owner is going to have an easy time overcoming.
Hunky Dory is moving to the Iron Works development, if that tells you anything… the others definitely should follow suit
Yep. I’m glad they’re sticking around, it’s my favorite record shop in town. They actually just announced they’ll be open Wednesdays and Thursdays again until the move in a few weeks, which is a great sign.
Accord to Reddit peeps. Today was the last day of Seaboard Cafe

Interesting. Those are Monstera leaves (several of them), not palm…
EDIT: I missed the “art” part, so maybe it doesn’t matter.
i see several different plants, including palms.
my concern is the lack of actual palm berries on the menu lol
Rooftop bar website is live. Taking reservations starting November 8th. https://www.highrailraleigh.com/
If only we had a meetup coming up around then…
acai is a palm variety, is it not?
learning moment! (characters)
What a contrast to the existing structure and surroundings. Not sure if I like or hate it.
I shall open the competing “Dingleberries”.
Does anyone know the plan for the traffic signal at Peace/Wilmington/Salisbury? The old posts are still in the middle of the new street. I asked the leasing folks about it when they were at Little Native a couple weeks ago, but they weren’t sure. No new pedestals yet which is typically the giveaway.
