William Peace and Seaboard Station

I would just look at Stanbury and their success as evidence that it doesn’t really matter where you’re located. As long as the food is really good, people will come back. There’s nothing around Stanbury at all and they’re completely booked almost every day of the week. Pizzeria Toro in Durham is good, so I have high hopes for them.

Well… my wishes still stand haha - Seaboard needs some late-nite entertainment options (not just another damn bar and/or restaurant) and I want the 20-story project to come to fruition and A. extend the skyline North, and B. block that god awful parking deck from view!

Pins Mechanical (that modern bowling alley concept) should be opening soon in seaboard, so that should have the entertainment part covered.

When I moved-into my apartment early last month, the spot where they are supposed to be moving into is still a large empty room, “coming next winter 2025” has passed.

Have we heard about an opening date recently for Pins Mechanical? I checked their social media last week (website & Facebook) and neither mentioned anything. A post from about a year ago mentioned late Winter 2025 as a target date. If I recall correctly, they were going to occupy a 20-25,000ish square foot space. Pretty significant. That will be a great addition!

Based on what @trueurbanist just posted, sounds like they should be announcing a new (delayed) date soon…I’d guess Fall/Winter 2026 most likely. Hopefully the project isn’t being stalled.

If it’s gonna be another year, I think that is the definition of stalled

If no progress continues, then yeah it’s stalled. But if work resumes/starts soon, then no it technically isn’t stalled at that point. That’s how I look at it at least.

I wonder if Pins is having operational issues. They announced a second location in Charlotte in June of 2024 which was supposed to open sometime in 2025, and that did not happen. Greenville (SC) is supposed to get one as well as part of a pretty large redevelopment at the edge of downtown, but one of the posters on that forum noted that all of Pins’ upcoming locations have been removed from their website.

I can confirm that sadly, it’s true because I checked their website recently and they’ve removed the Raleigh location webpage. The latest post on the Pins.Raleigh instagram account is from like 2024 or early 2025.

Lots of dirt being moved at Common Market. I’m excited for this one. Their website says “Early 2026” but you know how it is.

Is Pizzeria Toro not still coming there too?

It’s my impression that PT will go inside Common Market but just guessing.

Oh really? I didn’t think about that. That would be cool.

Unrelated but I got an email today that William Peace is raising its tuition by like 13%, might transfer to western Carolina or ECU. My friends are warning me not to go to ECU because I have behavior issues, and ECU is wild.

I was under the impression Pizzeria Toro was going in the rear space ( the one illustrated in this earlier rendering as ‘Rye Tavern’)

That was what I had assumed, so I was confused if this Rye Tavern rendering was a new development or from an older time.

That image is from last Summer, Pizzeria Toro announced towards the end of September. Assumingly everything is still on schedule for them to occupy that space.

Answering all my questions today. Now if you can just find a rendering of the apartments by Dorton Arena, you’ll win the triple crown.
