Foggier than I remember today
Foggy memoryā¦?
This is such a dreamy cityscape vista. The deliberate alignment of the state legislative building with the state capitol and how complimentary the city drapes & frames the background- itās such a great view, even from the ground level.
Despite its shortcomings, this (and the plaza space) is why I love Halifax Mall so much!!! Ahhh! Thanks for sharing your views
(Sorry for the quick tangent)
I had seen pictures on here, but wow when you see it in person that Crane really towers over the Holiday Inn! It will be very exciting to watch this go up!
Any way we can figure out how tall the crane is? Building is going to be ~260ā iirc but obviously the crane needs to be taller than the building. Maybe @OakCityDylan can use his drone next time itās out?
Will do. Bookmarked this for reference.
Iām amazed that this is free standing that tall. Most of these tower cranes are put up in sections as building gets taller and are anchored to building for stability. just think of the bending stresses on bottom of tower in a strong wind
FREAKING COOL!!!
Thank you so very much!
Thanks for making me feel good about the shot. Means even more coming from a pro.
Also, Iām glad @GucciLittlePig got my Ron Swanson commentā¦
Donāt half-ass two thingsā¦whole ass one thing.
Thanks for sharing! I rode through downtown Saturday to check out several sites and was overwhelmed at the sight of this crane. As a Raleigh native Iām glad to see one more parking lot give way to progress.

Hey. No more Freudian than choo-choos and tunnels.
Incredible. The clouds are my favorite part haha. And the window washers on the holiday inn. It is crazy they took the crane that high from the onset. I hope this one goes vertical quickly.
As much as we arenāt in love with the name Raleigh Crossing, I have to wonder if its name is influenced by the Downtown Crossing shopping district in Boston. After all, Fallon is from Boston.
Hmmmā¦ good find. I think youāre on to something!
Hopefully, Raleigh Crossing will fare a better fate than Bostonās Downtown Crossjng. Both the Jordan Marsh and Fileneās have closed there (part of the Retail Apocalypse) despite the two major subway lines underneath.
Vornado Realty Trust, involved with the NY Penn Plaza, is trying to breathe some new life into it. But, itās a sad shell of what it used to be.
