Trip down memory lane, this is the original 301 Hillsborough in September 2007. I moved here in May 2009 and had always just known surface parking. Stumbled upon this by accident today.
Actually kind of a neat almost Streamline Moderne building. Wrong for the location, though.
I remember when it was torn down to build The Hillsborough but ended up as parking instead.

I actually loved that building. I wish it had been more urban in its context. Way too much surface parking.
Honestly? GOOD. I am so underwhelmed by the Pendo Parking Deck. Hereâs hoping someone else buys the remainder of the lot, preserves the old brick building on the corner, and rezones/builds to 40-stories and hides that hideous parking-deck ass.
Any word on why? Youâd think theyâd want to expedite phase 2 seeing as how thereâs much more demand for residential developments in the area than there is for officeâŚ
