501 Hillsborough was the proposed 7-8 story building that was rezoning to 40 floors. I thought that one was a done deal, but iMaps still shows 12 floors zoning there. This one, 401 Hillsborough block, is now DX-40-SH
A place where different downtown districts meet is the perfect place for 40 floors of residential IMO.
Indeed.
Raleigh generally, and downtown in particularly, needs to start connecting the many great nods of growth and activity weâve got going on. A strong project here will fill in a gap and really make the wild west side one zone. Next up, the N&O block!!
right at 2:00 mins into that video, the woman being interviewed says what SO MANY people are thinking. she likes living downtown as a renter, but âprobably buy a house outside of the cityâ when it comes to purchasing. Our burbs keep growing. This is probably more for a different topic, but it just jumped out at me, and thatâs how they wrapped up the interview/the whole clip.
The block in the video clip is not the 401 block of Hillsborough Street. Itâs the 501 block (lawnmower repair, Flex, an architect, and a violin? store). The one that was supposed to be some 5 over 1 apartments but was announced months ago they were going back for greater height approval. so maybe this needs to go in wherever that topic is for a construction address.
Did we ever get an update on the 401 block project? RUMAH (Raleigh United Mutual Aid Hub), one of the tenants, says they are getting kicked out September 30. Help Save RUMAH! - by Schrader Art Doesnât necessarily mean anything, but as they write, âExtending the lease for our current location is not an option.â Really hope they can find somewhere new â they offer some important community resources and patch gaps in the social service net. But would also like to see this project happenâŚ
I donât see any ASR or permit activity in the past 3 years since the rezoning.
