Wish they could somehow save the trees but oh well
Well, there goes the 24 Hour Sin Shop
what was the 24 sin shop?
So strange to see these coming down after sitting empty for so long. Hopefully the lot doesnât stay empty for long!
I was about to do another one of my Highwoods parking lot fake news posts but I donât think Leo wants too much of that at a time. ![]()
It was the building at the end. Back in the 90âs, there was a fellow from Boston who made bespoke leather gear for the BDSM aficionados. And, downstairs there was a couple who made similar rubber and latex gear.
Between the two business groups, they would stage pansexual play parties. On the outside, the building was identified as â24 Hour Sign Shop.â There was a storm which knocked down the âGâ leaving it â24 Hour SI N Shop,
There were many complaints, but since it was an Act of God, they felt no reason to repair it. So, it stayed.
Itâs crazy how Raleigh was a cooler city when it was 1/4 the size it is now. Like how exactly does that work?
More era than city size.
Yeah. Now they just have those at some guyâs apartment in Brier Creek.
The gentleman who ran the leather goods business received notice that his building was going to be taken by eminent domain when TTA was going to use the Dillon warehouse as the downtown rail hub.
Well, that obviously didnât happen. But, he got the message and moved to Saint Louis.
And, the warehouse parties. There was a syphilis outbreak from the last one, and that put the kibosh on those events. (I know this as I was the treating physician for a few of the event participants)
That is one crazy story for lil ole Raleighwood!
Garner, as well. Plus some places in the Wake County countryside. But, I digress. Have to keep the focus on DTR.
IMO, because it wasnât so expensive to live/work downtown. Canât run a niche business with the rent as high as it is
Thatâs amazing. Learn something new every day!
Downtown Raleigh is cooler now than when it had the gimp boutique and lawn mower store IMO
I sure hope someone in town is doing an oral history. The âwood has changed so much in just a generation, it is remarkable. It would be a shame to lose all of these memories.
Oh, Iâm sure that there will be some noise leaking upwards from the old FLEX space.
Oh yeah, the Edison bulb food hall axe throwing bars are definitely cooler than the sex parties were.
âŚsyphilis parties*
Well, âComing Soonâ is coming soon on Fayetteville St.
