I mean, that would actually be perfect to have a bus hub connected to the light rail station along the tracks. And crossed with the Artery bike avenue.
Walked by the other day and captured this photo that documents the last views of the basement level of the former building. I think that this was the bar Flex.
Wait⌠are they filling this in? That seems like something you do for a gravel parking lot? For a building, wouldnât you start running utilities and grading for foundations next?
Itâs a done deal. Itâs filled.
Wow yeah, I thought the same thing. I guess itâs possible theyâre not starting just yet and just want it filled in. Trying to be an optimist but I said above that it could always just be a demo without construction and everyone told me that would be silly.
Thatâs a lot of fill.
Maybe itâs just a temporary parking lot? Seems par for the course.
The fact that the trees havenât come down tells me you all are probably right about it being turned into a parking lot.
Filling the void with clean compactable granular fill is also what would be done to facilitate slab-on-grade construction for a building that does not mimic the existing foundation walls.
You will get a gravel pay-parking lot and you will like it.
Sure, but that just doesnât look like the right type of fill. And this wouldnât be a slab-on-grade. And thereâs a whole 1 level of parking below grade.
I get that I have no idea what they are actually doing - just doesnât look like normal activity to fill something in that actually needs to be dug out.
I mean, Iâm not saying the project is canceled or indefinitely on hold, but it sure seems like they did the demo because the permits were expiring. And now they can put parking on the lot until theyâre ready to build. Part of the lot had paid parking added in the last year already.
The classic Raleigh bait-n-switch. Shiny new building? Maybe. Maybe someday. Perhaps. Surface parking lot? DEFINITELY. ASAP!!!
Taken from the east looking west. It doesnât look like a parking lot with its âstaircaseâ levels.
I find it weird they didnât remove the slabs. Parking lot or not I would assume you just do that while you have the crew onsite.
I mean, I could park there ![]()
Maybe I should have done one of my fake parking lot news posts? ![]()
No one on the job site. I assume this was just a âletâs tear down the deteriorating buildings, since itâs a hazard.â?
Drove by earlier and the fence was down with a few caution tapes in various spots. Doesnât bode well that anything else is happening right now.
