865 W Morgan Street (former Goodnight's)

Its a shame. With the meeker project right next door this stretch would have had strong character. But its done now. Cant remember what is going in here but hopefully they can do something that flows well with the pedestrian experience, though Goodnights was a better fit.

Apartments. Always more apartments.

Apartments with high dollar views of the tracks and the prison. I think they are called Buena Vista …

Maybe they will call them Buena Noche…

I’ve wondered for a long time if the state will one day relocate CP and sell that land.

One day after we’re all dead.

The big chance to move it was in the 80’s when they reconstructed it. At this point, I think GLP is right, it will be another 20 years or so.

Maybe as Dix Park finally gets built out (when we’re all dead) the city might try again? Don’t think they’d want their shiny, Central Park-esque attraction across the street from a prison?

Uhhh No.

It gives you the warm and fuzzies huh?

With all this talk there sure is a lot of incentive for the deaths of all of us here in the DTR community. Would drastically propel Raleigh forward.

I agree but to be fair - Nearly every American city is a disgrace.

LOL not quite. It’s just the novelty of seeing inside a building like that. Similar to why I like watching buildings going up, but in reverse. Except instead of a cool old comedy club we’re getting more apartments. So…not really that exciting.

Well we do need them…

Wish it was incorporating the old building, of course.

all except Buffalo and that’s 90% to do with the Bills :sunglasses:

My ONLY saving grace for this is that Goodnights will now be closer to where I (Currently) live so I can walk to shows… and that they’ll be building out a legit underground comedy club in a newly renovated/renewed section of the Village Underground.

Buffalo has a very strong preservation society and people will literally chain themselves to buildings to prevent their destruction. Buffalo is an outlier.

I am happy about any reactivation of the original Underground space. I wonder if it will spur on any other activity down there, or if it’s too unsafe fire code wise, and this will be just a single basement venue with street level entrance.

You must be really fun at parties

Ohhh shit! Good one!

This, but with value engineering. So basically the same as the ugly thing just up the street.
