Man that exterior looks a lot different from the renderingsâŚ
(Thank you for grabbing the pics! I somehow havenât been by there in like a month. Still might wander down this afternoonâŚItâs a great day for a walk.)
A great day for a sanity walk!
so i noticed when i was on boylan that the facade is much different on the other side. i think thatâll give us a sense of what the building might look like once done.
When do we think The Willard will open? Iâm looking forward to having a drink on their roof top deck and taking in one of the best views of downtown Raleigh.
Same! Probably late fall?
God, those windows practically look painted onto the façade; thereâs no depth at all⌠awful.
I guess for that section of downtown this will be fine but I am really disappointed in this project. Doesnât really check any boxes of what we are looking for. I wish we would stop building/planning these small hotels with no originality downtown. Afraid we are going to saturate the area with small boring hotels that look like they were intended for Airport Blvd and will never get that one big game changer. (Omni, Hilton, etc).
Methinks weâll be holding off on seeing one of the primo brands until the convention center is ready to expand.
rooftop area in foreground looks kinda smallishâŚthe outside part especially. is it going to be a bar?
I think that is the outdoor patio section but I donât recall from the drawings if that assumption is right or not.
Yeah, itâs supposed to be a rooftop bar. Looking forward to checking it out. I guess weâll see if itâs small in person someday soon(ish)! At the moment, it looks like they put the outside portion on the wrong side (the back)⌠just like the Residence Inn downtown. SighâŚ
I mean could be nice for sunsets facing west but should have just gone for bigger and wrapped all around east , south and west⌠Of course Iâm not the one spending money on it lol.
I think thereâs a pool in the middle of the front side of the top floor. I guess good views while youâre swimming?
Makes no sense. Seems that you would want the rooftop bar facing toward the party street, not toward the more residential side of the building. Views lost, but also potential noise issue
Coming from the viewpoint of someone with a west facing balcony, the Sunsets arenât all what they are cracked up to be. They are blinding until the very end of Sunset when itâs cool/pretty for like a couple of minutes. On the other hand, looking east and seeing the Sunset reflect off west facing glass of other buildings is quite beautiful to see!
