Bloc 83 - One Glenwood and Origin Hotel

There’s a lot of potential with that plaza. It should be even better after the other Dillon building project/bus terminal is completed.

Dram and Draught still coming along.

This still looks weeks if not months away from completion. Is the plan to wait until this is fully done to start demolition.

I think they were planning on finishing in June, but yes, the plan is to shut down for a few days and move. Demolition can’t start until then.

I think Dram and Draught or something same concept would do great in Peace Street Inspection Center. My dream would be to have small luxury condo building with first floor restaurant bar… but that would probably never happen. Such potential for that space.

This is 2 weeks to 1 month I’d say. Construction on these small upfits go really, really fast. Often times an upfit will have a 4 week turn around time. Also, based in this picture, this space is pretty small. Without seeing the back of the house, looks like the only thing that will take any time to complete is the millwork.

At one time, probably a decade ago or so, there was a plan to put row houses along the north side of Peace between Glenwood and Boylan. I don’t recall if there was supposed to be retail on the ground level or not, but I do seem to remember that they were to have rooftop decks like we are seeing all over the place now.

It’s had some things happen in it already though I forget the specifics. I see groups of office people doing what looks like coordinated stuff there from time to time. Staff Meetings? Not sure, but it’s rarely dead when I walk by.

It was all brownstone style townhouses around the entire block of Hinsdale and Boylan. What killed it was Mellow Mushroom’s parking lease at Peace St Inspection.

It’s official.

From that high vantage, you’re able to get Skyhouse in the shot, from Hillsborough street. Neato!

It looks like this tower has beat The Dillon for a major logo on the exterior?

Seems like it is on the less visible side of the building. Hopefully they will have on on side facing the CBD.

This vantage point really highlights how important a signature building on the N&O block is to the skyline.
Great shot!! Thanks as always @OakCityDylan

I love driving north on Boylan over the bridge and seeing that beautiful parking deck… haha! Gross. oh and of course the citrix deck as well… at least the the dillon deck is somewhat blended into the building.

Such a huge missed opportunity adding floors on top of the Origin Hotel parking deck! Could have been one of the greatest locations in Raleigh with views all around.

That’s what you get when you pull into the Union Station. Parking decks. Nothing but parking decks.

I was coming home from an Amtrak $1 day trip and said the same thing to my partner…I counted like 4 or 5. Really displays our priorities as a city (society really), front and center.
