Bloc 83 - One Glenwood, Two Hillsborough, and Phase 3

Looks a tiny bit better. Also visible are the retail spots along Hillsborough and (I think) Boylan

Not to get anyone too excited, but I was walking around the back sides of this deck yesterday. On the side directly behind the brick apartments, there’s one of those window-washer style platforms hanging from the top of the deck with paint cans on it, and the foundation area had been painted white like the Boylan side of the deck. Cautiously optimistic they’re going to at least two-tone paint the back 2 sides of the deck (opposite sides from what is pictured here). It’s not going to make the deck any less imposing, but at least it’ll look like a finished product.

I hope all the materials can withstand the heat of the sun reflections! :city_sunrise:

Is WeWork still in business? They were struggling before Covid.

Their website is still advertising availability in the One Glenwood building. For $250/mo you can get a hot desk, if you just want somewhere to hang out with nice views. Looking for some affordable housing, you can get a private office for $630/mo! It could be like working from home 24/7. :sleeping_bed:

George Costanza built a nice little bed under his desk at his office. $630 for solo downtown living and working, not bad at all

Looks like the construction elevator is on its way out, as the wooden doors have been removed over the last few days.

Anyone else feel like the exterior work here is taking forever?

Yeah, I feel like they keep moving up and down the sides of the building without doing anything noticeable. But I assume they have a plan. However, I guess I shouldn’t be in any hurry. After this, the Willard, Smoky Hollow (Phase II) and 301 Hillsborough (Phase I) wrap up, that’s it for big downtown projects that are actually confirmed to start.

My new view.

At least it has meaningful exterior elements to work on.

Looks like they’re finally painting the parking deck sides!

Also, the construction elevator removal is complete and it’s starting to be just a memory.

Just thinking about how none of these buildings were here a few years ago. Also, the kiosks are coming along well.
