I’m talking in terms of sports branding. Also, Carolina could be NC and/or SC.
I mean that’s kinda the point though, no? The teams are located in the Carolinas lmao
NYC alone has 2 MLB teams, 2 NHL teams, 2 NBA teams, and 2 NFL teams. There are a whopping 2 professional “Carolina” sports teams, as we speak ![]()
Here lies my issue, the name wouldn’t be unique. Raleigh…. would be better in my opinion (Ex: Raleigh Oaks). Why can’t Raleigh be in the name, Charlotte is in the Hornets full brand name?
Also, SC can get their own team if they want to be included lol ![]()
*the NY Metro has 2 NFL teams, each of which are located in East Rutherford, New Jersey
Oh as a Bills fan, believe me - I know ![]()
But alas, those teams are the NEW YORK Jets and NEW YORK Giants.
The only team in the city that isn’t technically “NEW YORK” is the Brooklyn Nets.
I personally think Pepsi Park sounds better… they used to do a lot of sponsorship stuff for the canes and have a separate Carolina’s brand.
Cheerwine Park please and thanks.0
Just told @Loup20 this is a great time to get upset NCFC fans behind MLB this is an even better opportunity to get support. We not just have an owner but I hear a group has been assembled, and I hear there has already been a decision in the location of a stadium. I’m happy for them they really did it! I know corporate support is shaky and one exec has left but I hear Raleigh will be on top of it after CBA happens. While I’m stressing about whether I’ll come here or not, I think Raleigh has a shot. Whatever happens the community was engaged.
I don’t think Raleigh is going to have an issue with corporate sponsors. It’s not like sponsors have to be Raleigh or even NC specific. It’s not like Raleigh baseball lives and dies on whether Mt. Olive Pickle purchases naming rights to the venue. Part of the reason RDU punches above its weight for domestic and especially int’l destinations is the premium heavy business demand we have. Nucor out of Charlotte is a major Canes sponsor as well as Pepsico. I just feel it gets overblown.
Okay that could be true. We’ll see I’m sorry I’m still traumatized from MLS.

Any of yall ever heard of the Old North State League? “Collegiate summer wood bat league” Apparently 24 teams just in NC. The team names are absolute fire! And the Raleigh team (“Raleigh Red Oaks”) moving to the Broughton baseball field this summer.
The Danville Dairy Daddies needs to stop looking at me like that.
Don’t have a cow man!

Lou & Team’s Raleigh MLB BBQ cookout was super! Great crowd & great food. Lawerence BBQ is very good.
- Cargill
- Spring Hill / Dix
- Gregory Poole / Fairgrounds
- Other?
The 3 likeliest spots for a MLB stadium? Thoughts? Fairgrounds close-ish to 2 highways, but would be a nightmare in early-mid October with the Fair if the team makes it that far in the playoffs. Spring Hill would be the most scenic and has the biggest blank slate for a whole development district but seems like it would be the most difficult for traffic / and no real good transit options. Cargill is somewhat downtown-adjacent and could potentially share some of the parking / development with the DTS soccer stadium across the street.
There all near neighborhoods, I don’t think its gonna happen.
I vote Cargill based on immediate I-40 access + BRT + Commuter Rail+ Greenway access, location to Downtown South, and immediate access to Downtown Raleigh. This is an untapped site with huge potential if it could ever be leveraged.
I love your commuter rail there in the map …
The greenway is a great point. Only a 5 minute bike ride from S. Saunders/ Lake Wheeler intersection.
