I believe parts of Iron Man 3 were filmed around here.

They filmed the Switzerland party scenes at Epic Games Studio.

That’s true. They used my former company’s HQ building as a set, on the SAS campus. There was an email to the employees inviting us to try out as extras. Funnily enough it was all the marketing people who were chosen, cuz, you know, they look better than frumpy developers.

I actually bumped into JK at Raleigh Times one night while he was here filming. Apparently he has a friend that’s from the area. I literally backed up into him, turned around to realize who it was and just said, “What’s up Johnny” and went back to what I was doing. LOL

Apparently it wasn’t smooth enough since he didn’t ask me to hang out with he and his crew. :sob:

Iron Man 3 was also shot in Wilmington. Just watched it a few days ago and was listed in the credits. Also Handmaids Tale was filmed in Durham and Raleigh (Moore Sq. Exchange and Reynolds Coliseum). Brainstorm was shot in Raleigh, RTP (at what was then the Burroughs Welcome blg.) and Pinehurst.

Brainstorm was not good. Natalie Wood dying mid-shoot did not help. Its worth it if you like RTP/Raleigh & Pinehurst. Seems at least one scene was filled on St. Mary’s close to the Harvey intersection.

I agree. I was very disappointed.

I was an extra in Iron Man 3; they had casting calls at Crabtree Valley Mall . They also filmed a couple scenes at SAS in Cary.

Yeah, in a house. I think that was a scene where the guy was caught in a virtual reality sex loop. Sort of foreshadowing if you ask me.

Genworth Mortgage Holdings is based here in Raleigh. It is currently a subsidiary of Genworth Financial which is a fortune 500 company based in Richmond. Genworth Mortgage is going to go public through an IPO.

Always nice to have another public company HQ in Raleigh. Last year it had revenue of $1.1 billion and net income of $370 million.
