He considers Charlotte home in this quaint 12,800 sqr ft house.
He has numerous dealerships in the Triangle area, but his passion, Nascar is very Charlotte based.
And yes his net worth is $1B

Quite a humble little abode he has there. I know there’s some crazy nice houses around Lake Norman and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was one of those. I had a feeling it would probably be in the Charlotte area because, like you mention, lot of NASCAR folks live around there.
Nope….he has money….but not that kind. He is in the Steve Malik kind of money. Same with Chris Leith…
Car dealerships carry a ton of debt…
If it was……he would be on the list. He has never been on any billionaires list…
He is a billionaire…and has been for a number of years… as simple google confirms this.
Show me a legitimate list Hendrick has EVER been listed on under the NC, USA, or Global billionaires list…& I will believe it
Forbes is the usual standard for these lists correct?
Mo money mo problems
those “legitimate” lists are usually solicited with information volunteered by the individual or the publication’s guess based on publicly traded asset values. neither of those sources align with Hendrick’s personality or business. also, dealerships actually have fairly low debt ratios, I think you were trying to say they have a lot of working capital tied up, which is true. regardless the man is rich rich. i also don’t know why I am acting like I care… sorry my contrarian streak is showing.
Jim Goodnight & John Sall don’t ‘volunteer’ anything… I know both of them. These rankings are just guessing at their net worth based on SAS’ reported revenue & a wild ass guess as to any other holdings…most of which are hidden under corporations etc…like Southport’s marina for instance.
Not saying Hendrick doesn’t have coin…but he ain’t in the same league as the B-Boys & Girls. Temple Sloan is another name that has serious coin…probably closer to the B’s club given he sold CarQuest to Advance Auto for over $2Billion…& he was the only owner…but he doesn’t even show up.
Can we get this topic back on Business Relocation/Economic Expansion in the Triangle? Personally, I’m kinda sick of the who has the most money convo. Just sayin…
It’s kind a relevant topic…given Raleigh & the area have ALL of the billionaires in North Carolina but not one of them seems to want to step up and support…say a sports team. Pro franchise are the epitome of a billionaire’s “must have/ego checklist”. How Raleigh ends up with the only ones who don’t have that is beyond me.
Seriously, Epic & SAS clearly add real value to the economy…no question. Advance Auto Parts is now HQ’d here thanks to Temple Sloan…but 5 billionaires and none of them want an NFL team???
Bottom line is that is is their money, it is not anyone’s place to spend it for them
I’m more interested in reading about actual business expansions in the area than some wealthy person’s vanity project.
There’s a thread for that
The Goodnights like to support the art world and Tim Sweeney likes to buy up land in NC for conservancy. Those are not likely sport team owners, though one is clearly going to be more interested in eSports.
It’s a relevant topic, because they could be helping this area with MLB to this city or MLS. I’m not saying it’s our money but most billionaires help out I’m some form the city they live in.
Talking about which billionaire has the most whatever and should do whatever with their money ad nauseum is not the same thing as discussing businesses expanding or relocating here. Just saying
Tax the billionaires like they were in 1960 and publicly fund a team.
Preach brother, preach.
