Business Relocation/Economic Expansion

Even if we don’t have an official Gucci store downtown yet, I was still able to buy my first Gucci item (actually it was free). After only 20 years of using this silly name… (which is an obscure, ironic Radiohead reference). I have to be honest, it’s all the Gucci jokes on here that made me do this.
:joy:

Well I finally have changed someone’s mind.

North Carolina is try to get a new government ran biotech agency. Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). I think we have a good shot with the current size of the biotech, pharma, and CRO industry in the area. Plus the backing of the area hospitals and universities. A decent site to put it would be on the compound that NIH Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the EPA already share.

I actually have a whole crap ton of Gucci items, but they are all cologne’s or perfume. And they were all free (kinda a long story).

So there’s still room for a FucciLittlePig account in the community?

Not sure if adds jobs to triangle or not but looks like Red Hat continues to drive IBM’s growth.

Red Hat, which was acquired by IBM three years ago, saw a growth rate of 17%, compared to 12% overall revenue growth. “Drove pervasive growth across Red Hat,” said Kavanaugh. “Red Hat revenue, all-in, grew 17%,” noted Kavanaugh, adding that such growth was fueled by new adoption.

And revenue from hybrid cloud now represents 36% of the company’s total revenue, said Kavanaugh.

Ran across this CNBC report about Vinfast using their new NC plant to break into USA market. Does not say much about NC (there is a pic of Raleigh) but does go in detail about how Vinfast is making a major effort that also includes major partners from around the world.

Another big get for the Chatham county area after VinFast. I think I saw another article elsewhere saying now that congress passed the CHIPS act, there’s more incentives to build these things here instead of Taiwan. Better control of the supply chain and not on the doorstep of our geopolitical rival either.

Yeah this is awesome. Tried this like 3 or 4 years ago but said congress would not allow. Those plants would have been humming by now.

Yep, it’s amazing what can happen when we’re actually working together as a country right?

Yes, if they actually would have when they had the chance, squandering opportunity when you refuse to work with others. If not for the minority reaching across it would not have happened and could not have happened. Block, blame, then do what was asked in the first place, classic. Anyway, back to building Raleigh.

And then take credit for something you opposed.

I know this isn’t NC-related but pertinent as they also quote the CHIPs Act as the catalyst. This one was announced by Micron for Idaho today. If my memory is correct I think Intel is doing a huge plant in Ohio too.

It’s interesting which cities get states (Tucson, Raleigh, Columbus, & Austin) and which ones don’t. So, somehow El Paso doesn’t but Austin does? I was hoping that there was some objective reasoning but that juxtaposition of 2 cities in Texas blows that idea.

I believe NYT follows the AP Style Guide. If so, there’s a list of cities that don’t require the state to be mentioned, while all others are required.

Edit: Just wanted to correct myself here. The NYT uses their own in-house style guide called “The New York Times Manual of Style and Usage,” first published in 1950 as an alternative to the Associated Press’.
