At least they’ll have it built out before the Peace Condos residents finally move in.
That’s not a particularly slow schedule.
Yeah. To demolish a large building including asbestos removal and then build a new 17 story building in 3 years, not to mention actually getting the inside done, is not that bad to me. And it’s not like the government is doing the construction. I’d be more concerned if they paid a huge premium to get the builders to get it done even faster.
It took three years to build the Platform apartments. It’s just how long construction takes for large projects.
Yeah but there was a seafoam green paint shortage due to the massive increase in demand. That probably slowed it down.
+/- 200 pounds of high explosives would greatly expedite this process.
That and they had to order every exterior light in the universe to ensure night never again visits Cabarrus and Dupont.
Old police station will be demo’ed this month. RUSBUS and CoR tower might be the biggest projects in downtown this year unless a developer is eager to get started soon.
I’m still holding out hope the Nash Square apartments start sometime this year as well.
At least this year will also see the vertical rise of the two Dix-adjacent towers going up, as well as the 6 or 7 story (can’t remember) apartment donut over by Glenwood South.
I believe that Salisbury Square is actually close to getting site plan approval.
Refresh my memory: are they near approval for the whole project (phase 1 + 2) or just phase 1? I wonder if they are planning to remove the office portion of phase 2 or not based on that current state of CRE
I thought all 3 buildings were Phase 1 and the phase 2 was a future hotel. And the office portion was already scaled back to just the ground floor of the north tower.
Just the 17 story office tower is planned. The rest is up in the air.
IMO tower two should be a main/signature library and community center instead of an office and if more office space is required that it should go north of the new office.
Using Forum Groningen as a template, it’s basically a local culture incubator for the city of Groningen:
" Forum Groningen
Exhibitions, cinema, library, museum, food & drinks, rooftop with panoramic view, tourist shop and events. The Forum is the place to be in de city centre of Groningen."
All of the Salibury Square towers are residential.
Correct, all 3 residential for 598 units total:
Even the Raleigh numbys (u=upset, *my recoining of the popular polarizing acronym) rejoice -
Cinema + Library combo sounds dreamy, load the fireworx (pic enlarged for effect)
