Yes I noticed that tail was really long. A lot of whiskey barrels were used.
New bike racks along Barbour Dr near the big field:
Starting to mulch in preparation for spring. This year will shatter visitation records (assuming 2025 set a record) as it’s the first spring with Gipson open and the trolls:
Flowers Cottage coming along too. The two best views of DTR are from the Flowers cottage in Dix and from in front of the Dix Chapel, after all.
I am hoping (and assuming) that Dix will just shatter visitation records year after year, from here on out!!! Especially as it continues to expand, redevelop, and sculpt the landscaping. Looking forward to grabbing a coffee at the Flowers cottage and then sitting on that grass and taking in the skyline view!!!
Is the cladding on the City Tall doing wild reflextions? It look pretty cool on my little phone screen. As always, thanks for sharing all of these!!
Very cool angle - the Creamery building is gonna make quite the nice bookend to this shot! Even got a lil NHills framed in the NW edge…..
Cheers mate, thanks for your pics!
this took place earlier today - i hope work begins soon!
Raleigh, N.C. — On Thursday April 2 at 10:00 AM, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02), Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell, and local Raleigh leaders will announce $1,092,000 for the Rocky Branch Restoration Project. After decades of alteration to accommodate urban growth and infrastructure, the project will restore Rocky Branch to a more natural state as part of the long-term vision for Dix Park: creating a healthier environment and a more accessible public space for Wake County residents.
Congresswoman Ross secured this federal funding in January of this year.
Maybe we can also have whitewater rafting on it! Oh, wrong body of water…
On a serious note, it is good to see that happening.
Have to give Congresswoman Ross credit for her work on getting that money from this administration for a project like this. Excellent news.
I really love this natural exhibit. I had to dodge a few caterpillars on the greenway this morning ![]()
.
If it ends up looking like the rendering from the press conference then we’ll have a ream gem here! Love it!!
Do we have any sort of timeline on when this is supposed to start? My googling didn’t come up with anything
Is the road in that image supposed to be Boylan? Trying to get my bearings.
I think MLK looking West, from about where MLK crosses over S Saunders.
I believe the only road shown here is one of the entrances into the park that comes off of Western. Western would be closer to “us” along the foreground, but the image cuts off before they get to it.
EDIT: @wey’s got it below my comment!
EDITED EDIT: Nope nevermind. Ignore my entire comment lol
