Downtown hotels

I was at that event with friends from out of town, they had a very hard time getting a hotel room, but I was able to help them with a room at the Sheraton, Which is why I have said that, better to build a High rise hotel of 30 stories so that you fill in the vacancies for guest. More hotels is needed around Downtown.

I posted a rendering of this months back. Looks like it’s been VE’d a bit since then. I wonder if there is a new rendering available.

You’re right! I remember it now. The elevations actually line up with the rendering very closely other than the reduction of glass in a couple of places, which is expected. Reposting for others:

This seems a perfect candidate for a living screen over the at least parts of the parking plinth. That pp on the Lenior side is awful. At least they tried to dress their pp up on the Wilmington side.

I don’t hate this, literally catty corner from 3 parking lots and 1 floor of retail. 12 stories, I will take it, to make Wilmington not totally be the wasteland it is today.

I think this could help kickstart more development on the east side of Wilmington St.
Next up, the lot behind Lincoln Theater!

Glad you said behind Lincoln and not beneath it.
C’mon Raleigh, give Lincoln a grant to renovate the place and put up a new marquee!

Wouldn’t it be better to just build underground parking than above, you would have more of hotel space for guest and visitors. maybe I’m wrong. :man_shrugging:

Underground parking is a lot more expensive and plus at most you would only have two levels of parking and that parking would be limited by the infrastructure needed on those lower levels.

McDowell St. Hotel is in for Site Review ! At the last two Monday Wake County Commissioner’s meeting ,
both times the commissioners mention a future 400 to 500 room downtown hotel.

McDowell and Cabarrus or McDowell and Davie?

It is Cabarrus St. , next to The Convention Center .

A hotel with 400+ rooms would have to be over 20 stories.
For example, the under construction Drury Plaza Hotel in Nashville has 390 room in 21 stories.
This’ll be big!

Unless I am mistaken, the latest DTR hotel Marriott City Center is 400 rooms and about what, 11 stories?

I think Marriott City Center Raleigh is 17 floors with 401 rooms. But not much parking (uses the convention center lot…
With a 5 level parking pedestal for the new hotel, we could see 23 or so floors…

Um isn’t this the Enterprise lot? We already know the details behind that and it’s not 400-500 rooms…unless I’m missing something here

Since we’ve seen the plans for the Enterprise lot hotel maybe the mention of 400-500 rooms is either wrong or something else.
