Downtown hotels

Playful pattering is a must for me when choosing a hotel to stay at.

I believe the translation is “we will have several big, blank walls that are cheap for us to build and we hope that someone comes along and pays us to paint them.”

I’ve seen worse buildings, I’ve seen better. I am glad for more downtown hotel rooms.

I like the navy blue n top the bottom the chandaleers could be more & better patterned.

From what I remember of this original rendering (I’m too lazy to scroll) this is an improvement (IMO). We don’t have any other buildings in town that look like this and I think unique is good. I also like the navy blue/darker color.

For comparison. IMO the better render quality is doing most of the heavy lifting here, but I do think the blue looks a little better.

I think it will look nice as long as it isn’t the tallest building on that block for too long (3+ years)

K let’s be honest, it’s the same damn image, just the first one has PS2 graphics, while the new one has maybe PS3 graphics lmaoooo

I would look a little better if it was under construction. What has it been 4 years already?

9-story Moxy Hotel at the corner of West & Tucker moving to the next step. Looks like plans should post Friday.

Could add to quite a hive of construction at the north end…

Ooh, I hope this turns into a long discussion about trains again! :upside_down_face:

Any guesses when construction would start on this, if the ASR is starting approvals? I’d hope this year!

I’m still waiting for the day for the Enterprise lot to become the hotel is has long rumored to be…

…I hope it never does. Completely ugly, squat waste of space that proposal was…

With these new hotel rooms coming on board, that originally proposed area for a new urban stadium sure would make sense!

Yeah the design was not great but another hotel on that block would be nice.

Oh sure- but at this point, it’d make more sense to rezone to 40 (…how tf it hasn’t been by now, makes zero sense to me but OK) and build mixed use hotel +residential…

Yeah I’ll give you the design was kinda meh, but like @trueurbanist said anything is better than the empty lot. Sucks because it’s one of the first things you see after driving in via the money shot route.

HARD disagree. That is one of THEE most prime lots left available in the immediate-Downtown area. It can absolutely be utilized better, and should be.

I mean this sort of reminds me of the Moxy/High Speed Rail debate raging in the other threads. Sure we can sit here and wait for years for a pristine, perfect development that is worthy of this lot’s location in DTR. Or that development that may never come due to market conditions, ROI for developers, public input/will, etc.

Like I said above, I’ll give you the design for the proposed hotel was meh. I think something tastefully designed and functional for the area (hotel, residential, or mixed-used) would work here. If we’re going to shoot for the best I think the lots in front of the Performing Arts Center and Nexus lots would be priority over this one.
