Not true, just not true this is the reason why things are missed like MLS and Amazon cause of stuff like this were aware of this but it already going on have you forgotten the Affordable Housing bond it went through, now it time to have some Leisure and development you guys say there nothing to do and went there something you reject it!!!
Corey Branch just laid it out. Wow! In support all the way it sounds.
I’m buffering again . Started when David started talking .
Same here…
Kudos to that Brotha!!!
How ironic when Cox talks the TV Box stops!!!
It’s back. And… in my eyes, it’s so strange to see David Cox just hiding behind the curtains of OneWake’s concerns when he’s not coming from the same mental place.
Also, I wonder what Forte’s going to say? It’s almost unsettling how she’s never commented on any of this and is reserving her comments 'til the end.
Forte is the scary one, she in the middle she’s the swing vote!!!
Yes, suspenseful waiting for what Forte wants to say at the end.
The Nail-Bitting moment we’ve all been waiting for!!! Right Now StandBy!!!
So that was interesting! Stormie Forte, the representative of District D (where DTS is slated to be built), was largely silent on the matter until the very, very end; she asked the mayor to reserve here comments 'til the very end, and never gave media comments about her thoughts until this moment.
Interesting point to note: when Forte was giving a long list of names of people who made specific outreach contributions, heartfelt speeches (including many City Council members), David Cox was the only one who spoke for an extended period of time she did not recognize. And I think she named several of the OneWake team members and environmental critics in that list, too, so it wasn’t like she was only patting the backs of pro-DTS activists.
After that speech, Councillor Forte moved to approve the rezoning case; this was seconded by Corey Branch, who (apparently? since I wasn’t there for it) gave a heartfelt speech relating the project to opportunities for his relatives to thrive. THE REZONING CASE PASSED, 7-1, with only David Cox opposing.
Here is the moment of truth right now, Forte has moved forward with that motion to vote, Corey Branch second it 7-1 Cox denies!!!
7-1 pass…
HOLY SMOKES
they just approved

BREAKING NEWS…This has been approved!!!
Bulletin 11:00 P.M. on December 15, 2020 Rezoning Request Approved!!!
OneWake…bless their hearts

Huge step foward towards Raleigh and the county building a dense, urban core!
Exciting news for all of Raleigh!!!
It was mentioned earlier in the discussion that there were concerns of it possibly needing to be resubmitted as a PD vs a RZ. If it passed 7-1 as a RZ, was there mention of why that was a previous concern/why the previous concern was disregarded?
Either way, this is a much welcomed, yet honestly very unexpected development from tonight’s meeting!
Along with many others, I also have conflicting feelings about possible outcomes of this project, but overall, I am mostly for this development and am happy to hear that it’s been given approval to move forward.
Even from the days of mere sports team speculation and the first stadium conceptualization, I think my inner pessimist had gotten the better of me after seeing so many proposed development and infrastructure projects stall out or not come to fruition. I’m afraid I
assumed this project might see the same fate and started to resign to feeling like these types of projects wouldn’t be realized by the city until I’m old and crusty ahahaha
