This picture will be on TBJ before we wake up
Wow this looks like it doubles the central business district. Liking the “Downtown South” branding.
Hold on to your hats, city council. Another rezoning request may be coming your way.
And I was just getting over Stef’s email. …deep breath R-Dub…deep breath.
This is such a game changer for our city. I drive through here twice a day. It’s currently not a part of our city to be proud of to say the least.

WRAL Tech Wire has a great article on this stadium tonight .
Not to mention that it’s Toooooooo Farrrrrrrrrrrr Awayyyyyyyyyy Frommmmmmmm Theeeeee Downtownnnnnnnn Coreeeeeeeeee.
Anyone notice the complete lack of vast oceans of surface parking lots?
Fantastic. Would be a game changer - reminds me very much of the Nashville Yards project which is surprisingly comparable in total sqft, hotel and residential units
Here’s the website!
Love it! Please let this happen.
Front and left of the arena, they kept the Red Roof Inn…
We better get a new council in place then!! I counted more than 20 stories in some of the buildings in the picture and this isn’t CORE downtown.
This will be on the WRAL 11:00 news (and surely repeated in the morning).
OMG, THE TRAFFIC!!! STOP IT NOW!!! PUSH DEVELOPMENT TO SOUTHERN APEX NOW!!!
WOW . I’m astatic! This is beautiful
I really hope this got approved or does get approved.
Asstastic?
This looks fantastic!
This combined with the eventual S Saunders project (should it ever happen) will extend downtown nearly to 40 as I believe things will fill in quickly along the way. It is one hell of an aggressive timeline but just having this site up and ready shows that they have their ducks in a row.
Not a huge fan of Downtown South but I guess it beats calling it SoDoNeFo (South of downtown near Forty)… on second thought
