FTR, the food truck rodeo organizers cancelled their own event (on Fayetteville St)

Really sad, I liked that event . If the vaccine is not the end game for covid, I have a hard time to see how that is going to end…

Don’t know where else to put this but here, so here it goes. First, I’ll start with a quote from Leo’s latest blog post.

The AT&T building on McDowell Street will be getting a mural. The infrastructure building, from what I’ve been told, has very little employees in it but lots of telecommunication equipment inside. As for the aesthetically dull outside, you can see it doesn’t contribute much to the landscape.

In effect, when this building was built, we were putting our people out in the burbs and our data center/lab type spaces in the city. The juxtaposition of those two realities is stunning.

I wonder if this building was ever filled with actual switchboard operators as opposed to all machines. Certainly the early exchange must’ve been close to this location.

No. That is a different time period. It had the old relays (click click click) systems before digital switching took over (Nortel’s claim to fame).

I’d suspect that if it was ever really filled with people, there’d be windows.

Why would this guy do this to himself? Sad part is he has a cool store but he wants to be one of those jackass in your face right wing types and will alienate most of the folks who might go shop there.

Empire Properties owns the building……$100 says this guy is gone when his lease expires.

Dumbass will probably be gone before then because of stupid business decisions……if you can even describe this as a “business decision”

Care to forward this to City Staff? There is not only a city-wide mask mandate in place, but as of yesterday a county-wide mandate as well, so he’s literally announcing on his front door that he is violating 2 local gov’t mandates. He is clearly an idiot, but idiocy should be punished with a nice fine when it’s this blatant.

It’s on seeclickfix as a sign issue currently…

“Wake County officials said on Friday that they would be asking town and city leaders to implement mask mandates. So far, only Cary, Knightdale and Raleigh are following that recommendation.”

Yeah Wake County’s only applies to unincorporated areas of the county, so technically this business is only violating 1 order, not 2.

It’s only a recommendation…

It’s a recommendation to order a mask mandate

Gotta respect the commitment to being a s***heel even when it will wreck your business and potentially get you evicted. Truly incredible stuff

What if you wear a mask while shopping online?
:face_with_hand_over_mouth:
Let this guy play his little cultural war if he wants to. He clearly needs to be a victim when his business fails and he needs something else to blame.

You can walk around his store with a mask on, but once you check out you have to take if off or you can shop somewhere else.

A spokesperson with the city of Raleigh says at this point, the city is taking an educational approach to the mandate.

No citations or warning right now, but if that changes, Breed says he’ll see them in court.

Yikes.

I won’t be shopping there that is for sure. Over / under on how many days until he catches covid?

We talked to Mark Robinson, a customer shopping inside the store without, as the sign mandates, a mask.

“This is his business, whoever business it is it should be to their discretion," Robinson said.

Wait… this Mark Robinson?
