Stumbled on Cue Grass this afternoon. I love how nice downtown is when there’s events.

(love the jorts and flannel shirt combo)

It looks like Highwoods has finally decided to sell their vacant lot between SkyHouse and the PNC building. They’ve name it the “Edge” whatever that helps.

The article doesn’t list an asking price but quoted someone saying they are looking for 8 figures or 10+M and hopefully residential tower.

I am still bummed they never built this on this site, but if pivoting to residential gets something finally out of the ground (and more critical mass to support businesses) then I’m all for it.

Whatever goes here should be twice as tall as this, anyway.

How about another SkyHouse but as condos. I think that would do really well there. I lived at SkyHouse 2016-2018 and enjoyed the building, location, style/units, rooftop pool and amenities. If it were built for ownership but with similar amenities, I think it would do well.

How about a building that isn’t identical to one we already have?

Skyhouse has been known to build twin buildings so I think it makes sense. I’ll vote for anything that’s of similar height or higher in that block regardless (almost) of look.

I have never heard a good thing about any of the Skyhouse buildings the longer they’ve aged. The Charlotte twins are always clowned about on the Charlotte UrbanPlanet forum.

Yeah, it’s not aging really well from the outside. I’ll pass on its twin.

The window covering fell down in this building next to 150 Fayetteville and it, uh, needs a little help inside.

From 2007 to 2009, I lived next door and could look down on that building, 114 Fayetteville. Looks about the same as it did then. I feel it will never be revived as you’d only get a single story, maybe you could bring back a few floors above it. Could be an amazing reno project.

City of Raleigh: we want to revitalize Fayetteville St!

also City of Raleigh: allows this to exist indefinitely

In some countries like China developers profit from constructing unused high rises. US markets are smarter and more efficient; we profit without building at all!

I pressed my phone against the window this weekend and snapped this one.

It seems strange for Empire to leave things this way…(and for the City to not have any leverage to instigate something happening with this ‘Blight on Main St’ )

Honestly, does it even need to be something tall? Why nIt just knock down the left wall and have that space be an outdoor space next to Birdie’s?

Yeah honestly, literally just clearing the space and leaving it an open/bare lot would be better than a dangerously decrepit, abandoned building that nobody can use for anything.

Let’s get the Cornerstone people to turn it into a bar!!!

Leave the metal beams, add fairy lights and picnic tables, put in a good curb cut and some power hookups and you got a food truck alley.
