Five Points, East End Market, & Raleigh Iron Works

These are beautiful, but only 3 bedrooms in 4,000 sq ft? Does it have a bowling alley?

We need like 2000 more of these ITB - but shrink them to 3,000 sq ft or less.

Are these new of the East End Market phase 2? Hard to believe even the mid-rise residential hasn’t started yet.

That would be awesome. Feels like this part of town truly becomes a district when that comes online

Doesn’t look “new” (meaning, looks like same layout and overall design) but where did you find these?

Yeah it’s got some high end, nice places in there, but that weed filled hole and crap parking lot make it hard to feel high end. Whereas Iron Works, with more to come and plenty of unused space still, provides a nice, cohesive environment. I really want this Phase 2 of East End Market to get going.

Even those in the hood who bitched about this are going to love this in their neighborhood.

Pedestrian connectivity is something the company wants to see happen in the area where East Whitaker Mill Road meets Atlantic Avenue — so much so that Beacon is now working with the city and Grubb Ventures to create a pedestrian master plan for the area. That includes pedestrian paths that connect Dock 1053, Raleigh Iron Works, Salvage Yard and 2233 Capital.

In October, Beacon Partners acquired Dock 1053 for $35 million with plans to add more development to the property. Grubb Ventures is the developer for Raleigh Iron Works and Salvage Yard.

Gorham said the company is confident the Capital Boulevard rezoning will be well received because several of the surrounding properties are zoned for 20 stories, including the recent unanimous approval of the Wake County Board ABC facility on Wicker Drive to commercial mixed-use 20 stories.

I gotta wonder if there’s any plans for the distribution center to sell their land and move operations - that whole area is RIPE for redevlopment along Capital Blvd, and could actually connect the Iron Works area to Capital in a much more cohesive way than it does currently.

There’s also recent movement on the Ratchford property that was recently rezoned to 20 floors…

Another domino from this… does this give Grubb more capital to kick off Phase 2 of the Iron Works?!

Just imagine the potential here… if these road extensions/connections are made (increasing the grid), and if EVERYTHING in red were redeveloped to high-density, 20-stories max:

what we really deserve here when it’s all said and done is a pedestrian bridge over capital connecting iron works to the bike lanes on crabtree blvd.

Raleigh Magazine reported this week that Lewis Barbecue, with locations in Charleston, Greenville and soon-to-open Atlanta, will soon open its first NC location at Salvage Yard at Raleigh Iron Works. The Texas-style restaurant’s Charleston location just won a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its award-winning slow-cooked meats, brisket, and classic Southern sides. The space will feature a 1,625-square-foot exterior smokehouse. No word yet on an open date. Start getting familiar with them here.

So they bought and are rezoning the big warehouse portion of this whole area… wonder what will happen with the “old farmers market” section between this and the car lot that is also up for redevelopment??? I’d honestly be so down to see that return to some sort of farmer’s market, perhaps even more localized than the NC STATE FM, and have a “Raleigh Farmer’s and Craft Market” or something

Sam Jones also received a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The award is so watered down and this proves it.
