Five Points, East End Market, & Raleigh Iron Works

It’s not totally ridiculous if this is a market rate product that is enticing a wealthy sliver of the senior population. Even with the enormous amount of parking provided, it may be indicative of the level of service that this project comes with, or the presumption that they are accommodating family members who will undoubtedly visit their wealthy parents and grandparents.

I think this rezoning is going to be another “yes” from our CC :grinning:.

Holy cow, I don’t think I have ever seen such a turn around from a group that opposed a development in Raleigh.

Haha beat me to it! I wish I could’ve seen who else voted against (besides Cox).

Yeah, strange camera work on the vote.
No other objections made (except Cox), so Forte or Buffkin ?

Forte was the other Councilor who voted against this project.

Reduced to 9 stories now?

I thought it was reduced to 11? Did I miss a reduction?

At any rate, that type of development will be transformative here. Along with Raleigh iron works.

Will be a really cool bridging of the gap between NH/MTX and Downtown.

Can’t wait until it all starts to bleed together.

Either way, it will stand out at this location as it will sit on top of a hill that drops off in 3 directions.

My understanding is that there are two scenarios that come with different set backs depending of the max height. The staff person kind of mis-presented that part.
I hope they go with the 11-story one :grinning:.

So excited this got approved! I thought the NIMBYs would win out for sure…glad they didn’t!

Do we have any indication on timelines for construction/opening yet? The land has already been cleared and it looks like work has already begun on the eastern portion of the project.

With all the rezoning of just the last year and a half, the city is all set for a mega amount of development in and around its core until at least 2030.

A large industrial property in the heart of an ongoing development boom in Raleigh could join the growth spree as the property owners are seeking a rezoning to allow 20 stories of mixed-use development on the site.

Representatives for New Jersey-based Auburndale Properties plan to host a neighborhood meeting on June 28 regarding the company’s planned rezoning of 2114 Atlantic Ave. to allow for a mixed-use project up to 20 stories tall. The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Filings say the zoning would allow for a mixed-use project with “residential, office and/or retail.” The property is situated on 6.8 acres abutting Grubb Ventures’ ongoing Iron Works project and near Atlas Stark and SLI Capital’s East End Market PD development, which recently won a crucial rezoning approval.

Woot woot! Love the growth in this area, perfect location for it IMO. This area is going to be a real destination pretty much as big as North Hills was when I moved here.

What are people going to end up calling this general area? The Iron District? East End Market?
