Does anyone have any specifics on this meeting? I live in 5 Points. Our CAC sucks to say the least. It’s the same people for the last decade and all they do is complain at any development project (I guess not that different from many of the other CACs).
Well, damn I am def gonna be pissed if 2112 Percussion is forced to close…
They don’t make it easy to link.

THURSDAY 12/19 at 6 pm.
Five Points Center for Active Adults
2000 Noble Road
Raleigh, NC 27608
Apparently a site plan will be shown.
I could just embed the two images they have there. They’re huge, so click in and explore.
Note that the existing warehouse renovation (first picture and the back portion of the right side of the 2nd picture) is the already announced project and partially leased so probably starting renovation soon.
This is great. The density between downtown and North Hills just keeps growing, and this will help. Already thinking about BRT down Wake Forest Rd. in the next Wake Transit Plan…
As for neighbor complaints, I don’t know what to tell people other than if you have property ITB, and it’s near a main road like Wake Forest, you better come to terms with the fact that people are looking to increase development in your neighborhood. I’m not sure what people expect at this point.
Yes can’t wait for the BRT down this stretch. All the density being developed in this corridor. NH, Midtown exchange, coastal Credit union, whatever will end up along Crabtree creek form the midtown master plan. Someone sooner or later will redevelop the shopping center were the kroger used to be.
I’m gonna guess the second image is high-level concept/master-planning and not a finished design, because that looks like $$$. Hope I’m wrong; it looks fantastic!!
I will say (as a Five Points resident) that 12 stories does seem a little like overkill considering nothing else is currently even anywhere near that height. It’s going to stick out like a sore thumb until other redevelopments follow up. So I definitely understand that part.
12 stories is the perfect tapering down between the towers at NH and the towers going in at Peace St., right?
Can’t have a second tower without a first.
I’m sure someone said the same thing about the CapTrust building in North Hills.
haha I’m definitely more of a fan of moderate density everywhere vs. a selected few tall buildings in certain areas so ignore me
My bet is that 12 stories won’t look that tall in that area in 5-10 years, so if you can grin and bear it now, it’ll be for the better. Build up, not out - this is part of that!
The top of a 12-story building here would have great views of North Hills / Midtown Exchange to the North, Highwoods office buildings to the NE, and downtown to the SW. Would be amazing if there was a public-accessible rooftop component (bar/restaurant/event space?)
My guess is the neighborhood is going to ask rooftop entertainment to be added as a conditional exclusion. I think that would be a fantastic location for something like that. Maybe they can design it as such so that it won’t have an impact on the neighborhoods from a noise perspective.
what “residents” exactly would be hindered by a 12 story rooftop? the BP gas station? maybe the storage facility? Snoopy’s?
I was in downtown Asheville this weekend and went to the top of the AC Hotel bar. I can assure you that you could not hear a thing at street level from that bar.
The same residents that will complain about the shadows this monstrosity will cast. It’s not so much about if it’s a realistic complaint/concern, there are residents in this CAC region and they will complain about it (based on past experience). Oh, and will it have affordable housing. (not a question, just stating the typical concerns)
Oh and the traffic!!
