Five Points, East End Market, & Raleigh Iron Works

Wow, if they could get that State Equipment junkyard there off Hodges to develop then they’ve got quite the district happening…

Isn’t that the old state Farmer’s Market?

Maybe. All I’ve ever known it as is a razor wire fenced in depot for what seems like state equipment…

Its a flood area. Maybe could be a nice park with denser development along the edges?

Yes, that was the original State Farmer’s Market. The original awnings are still there

I remember when that site in request for rezoning was a Pontiac dealership.

Maybe make it a Boxyard 2.0 that lives light on the floodplain !?

The old Farmers Market is to the left of this parcel. This was a Pontiac dealership and later a helicopter landing pad was poured and it was a flying service for a while. I think it was doomed because it was so close to 440 and scared the crap out of drivers on the loop. I remember a lot of locals complaining about it. I personally enjoyed seeing the choppers land and take off.

They should buy that second to last picture to use in their marketing materials.

RIW looks great in that photo, but Midtown looks rather wimpy in it.

That’s because of the circumference of the earth or something right?
