Flamewar City Debates

Yes. The process for this development has not gone far enough to actually get into the system yet. I imagine it will be digitally added soon.

Yup. New arterial growth to support the metastatic spread.

That was part of the input for the current Cary comp plan (“Cary Community Plan”). That plan chucked the Future Land Use Map and opens the gates for rezonings as long as they meet policy guidance, which is often supportive.

For all of my lack of knowledge about literally anyone playing at Dreamville, I know and like almost all of the bands playing at this. I want this kind of thing in Raleigh, at Dix Park or something.

Weekend in Maryland…LoLs…!!!

Most of those bands are a hair before my time, but I’ve heard that weekend festival is a good time. Ocean City is a fun beach town.

BREAKING from the #Durham City Council work session: Per mayor, an unnamed council member is under investigation for apparently telling a developer that he/she would support a project in exchange for a donation to that council member’s campaign.

Interesting design for the chamber they got over in Durham. You literally have to look up to them.

Found this on the Durham Subreddit:

Per Jillian Johnson’s twitter it’s Holsey-Hyman being accused of both soliciting bribes and misusing a city employee for her campaign.

Interesting, she’s one of the councilpeople my neighborhood NIMBYs love because of her reputation of standing up to the “corrupt developers” and opposing greater density. But in this case she allegedly solicited a bribe and the developer did the entirely ethical thing of immediately reporting it. Funny how that works.

And:

It’s worth noting that Holsey-Hyman is the one accused of the extortion. She is typically a “no” vote on development.

Someone also mentioned that she is on Durham’s ‘Affordable Housing’ committee:

Color me shocked; an “anti-developer” NIMBY that can be swayed from their NIMBYism with shady bribes from developers?? NO WAY!

Minor league Hockey team plays an outdoor game at the Minor league baseball teams stadium…yawn.

Charlotte has a history of these questionable decisions, I once played a game at their now demolished Eastland Mall rink while people threw crap from the upper levels onto the ice. Needless to say after completely destroying their Jr. Checkers team we never got invited back thankfully.

Wow that picture just screams late 90s mall culture nostalgia. I love it!

Was that before or after the Tiffany concert?

didn’t realize that Raleigh was such a trailblazer and visionary in regards to playing hockey outdoors!

Whenever Raleigh gets something, or does something, or is recognized for something, it seems that Charlotte shows its hand and tries to “get one” too.

One could argue that doing your own version of other cities’ good ideas is, in fact, a good idea in and of itself?
