Food Halls and Grocery Stores in downtown Raleigh

I’m sure you can. But depending on the type of restaurant, it might be beneficial to have a stall there. I’m sure the strategic idea is that a place like Morgan St draws in a lot of foot traffic, especially on weekends when the drinking crowd is out. And in turn the stalls get a lot of marketing exposure locally that’s baked into the rent price. So if you have something say a ramen shop, or a lobster roll place that’s otherwise only available in a food truck (i.e. things that I want to eat when i’m sauced), you can probably expect a decent amount of volume + decent local marketing exposure from having a stall. If you just have a normal footprint elsewhere, on top of rent you’d probably have to spend more on marketing to draw in the traffic.

Not sure where to put this, but there is a grocery store coming to the empty lot beside the Transfer co. This has apparently been planned for a long time so I’m sure it’s mentioned somewhere on this forum already. I think this building and the Ware townhomes were all part of the same site plan.

This is the long awaited Saxapahaw General Store. First time I’m seeing a rendering though. Is it finally happening?!

That’s going to look awesome, it’s honestly a better design than I was expecting.

Y E S! I love it. Totally fits with the townhomes’ modern design and the classic brick of the Food Hall itself.

Been waiting 3+ years for this damn thing to be built.

Looks great! This, plus Transfer plus the townhouses = a really nice mixed use node. Glad to see it moving forward.

Yup, hopefully my living room view will be improved without it being to tall to block my views…

Judging by the roof height of the Transfer building itself, I think it will (obviously) be visible from your view, but you should still see the skyline peeking out from the top!

Amazing what the Greeks figured out 3k years ago. A triangle atop a box!
In all seriousness it looks good. Let’s get it built!!

The backside of the building is thankfully not going to be just a blank wall, so there’s that at least.

Going to be close. Certainly better than the present mud hole. As long as I’m not seeing complete roof it should be ok. At least it will make buying $8 jars of mustard convenient.

Is the Publix still planned for Peace & West or has that been scrapped? It appears the signs announcing the Publix are all gone from the building.

From what I understand it has been scrapped and to be replaced with a roller skating rink. In all seriousness, the latest target for it’s opening is July per the Smoky Hollow thread.

If you go to the Smoky Hollow topic, you can see some photos of the nearly completed interior of Publix.

Great. Thanks. I searched for recent posts containing “Publix” but somehow musta missed those pics.

Look in the smoky hollow thread.

Does anybody know if Transfer will open with Phase II? Has there been Take out?

Plenty of takeout available. I will keep an eye out to see if they start to put outdoor tables out. They should be open for dining they have plenty of room.
