Food Halls and Grocery Stores in downtown Raleigh

CT Wilson trucks out there now so maybe this is the start.

Are they still working on the Red Hat sign? I see a crane on the building

Can’t tell from my angle

They are working on the roof.

Some aerials of the progress.

This will be one entirely kick ass project when all is finished (Food Hall, townhomes, freestanding grocery store)

No more movement on grocery store construction.

However, traffic seems to have picked up at the food hall. They finally have both entrances open and have realized they do have plenty of room for social distance inside. No more roasting on the patio during the day.

Any news on grocery store construction? Not much activity. I do think they put up new construction fencing though

Last time I spoke w/ the GM about it was when he told me August, so I am not sure what’s going on! I just saw him recently too, should’ve asked for an update. I will shoot him an email.

Glad to see Transfer busy on a chilly Saturday afternoon

I’d love to see another food hall be built in another area of downtown but two stories with a chain grocery store

Transfer is technically 2 stories if you include the upstairs balcony thing.

I know lol but it would be nice if a grocery store was on the first floor and restaurants on the 2nd

From a response to my question on Instagram, Sax General Store’s plans for expanding to Raleigh are on hold for now because of the pandemic, and is now TBD.

If only they had already expanded in the last several years while there wasn’t a pandemic…

I guess I get to look at the mud hole for a while longer. They should just expand the food hall instead.

Maybe post pandemic, they’ll come back with even a more substantial plan? On can hope. Frankly, the longer the wait, the more robust the demand will be from the rapidly growing community on the east side of downtown.
