I researched it said Cortez Seafood and Cocktail.
Glad we’ll get some seafood again. I miss it.
That’s great to hear - I love Cortez!
…if there’s anything better than “seafood” it’s SPANISH seafood - good news, indeed.
This is wonderful! I’ve missed going to Transfer for oysters and cocktails, and Cortez gets their seafood from Locals anyway so it’s a great trade off.
That’s like going from RC Cola, skipping over Coca-Cola, and just going straight to cocaine. Big win for Morgan St
I haven’t been to MSFH in a bit but every time I’ve been there it felt like there was a line at Wicked Taco. I wonder if they’re moving to a brick and mortar somewhere else?
I mean there’s a damn line for everything at that damn place, partly why I never choose to go there. But that was one line of eventually-disappointed people, I can tell you that. Gym Tacos is the TRUTH.
Oh for sure, made the walk a couple times from Raleigh Brewing to Gym Tacos.
"Replacing Locals Oyster Bar in the downtown food hall will be a new sushi and ramen restaurant from one of the Triangle’s most successful restaurant teams, Joel Ibarra and Salvador Alvarez.
Yatai Market, named for Japanese street food stands, will open this spring in the food hall. The corner spot in Transfer has sat empty for more than half a year following the departure of cornerstone vendor Locals Seafood, which left to build a new fish market.
Yatai looks to carry on that seafood market component and pair it with fast casual seafood and steamy bowls of ramen. "

Oh that sounds AMAZING
Little inside information that the Saxawpha grocery location next to Transfer food hall will be sold and purchased by someone not named Monarch. It’s pretty serious although the guy might have more money than sense, it’s more likely than anything Monarch proposed.
That has been the most ridiculously delayed project in all of downtown, except maybe the gravel lot Edison tower. It’s a tiny space, and it’s been “coming soon” for how many years now? LOL
I’m assuming Sax Grocery is out then as the tenant as well? Happy to see any movement on this site.
I wouldn’t say it’s completely off the table, but it sounds very unlikely. He’s leaning towards mixed use and going vertical. We’ll see, the sale needs to go through first and that’s today.
Gotcha. Well either way I’m happy for any progress for the site. Thanks for the news. Keep us updated if you hear more!
This is intriguing. Like more than the current 3 floor zoning?
Not sure exactly, I would image so to make the finances work.
40 stories and call it a day.
Glad I already gave up on Sax so I’m not more disappointed now.
