Former News & Observer Site - Nexus Office Tower

Yah, they could probably add Apartments to the hotel tower as well, and add floors to the office tower.

Excellent project.

Some more height variation between the three towers would bring more character to that block and really be icing on the cake. The tower furthest East (closest to Fayetteville) could be tallest at 28-30 floors, the South tower around 25 floors and the North tower can stay as-is around 20.

I’ll take it regardless though.

They weren’t interested in additional height. See my comment from Sept.

And by not changing the zoning they can probably avoid any AH demands from the City Council.

…which is exactly why using the rezoning request process to force AH is not a sustainable policy/strategy.

Just realized this was posted above as well. My bad @GucciLittlePig

This project will go a long way towards really connecting Fayettville St & the WaDi (it sounds like a name from Dune in my head) in an active and attractive way. This is a particularly dead quiet block.

Another five or so stories would have done wonders. That being said, this is a high-quality development.

And as @Nickster mentioned, running the 2020 or 2021 marathon will be amazing with 301 hillsboroughs many phases and the nexus going up at once. I’d say maybe 8 cranes in those 2 blocks.

Oh, the contractors will figure out how to do with only 1 crane each to assure that Raleigh’s growth will fly under the radar as much as possible. :slightly_frowning_face:

I totally agree with this John. I believe the max amount of cranes at one time was when the Justice Center was being built. I think it was three cranes up.

Dubbed The Nash, the 20-story tower will feature over 100 upscale condominiums – with floor-plans ranging from one-bedroom homes to penthouse suites – and amenities including hotel-style offerings such as concierge services.

What’s really cool about this project is we get three 20-story towers and one 19-story tower being built on one block at the same time, starting in 2020 and finishing 2 years later. Wowzers!

Their website https://www.thenashraleigh.com/ is up but is light on details currently.

But the TBJ article does note they’ll be taking deposits soon:

Interested buyers can put a deposit down to reserve units beginning early next year.

Pricing has yet to be released, though Perry says The Nash will have a wide variety of offerings for customers in all stages of life.

“We’re going to have something for everyone,” he says. “Everything from younger professionals to empty nesters.”

It’s nice to see the condo market reviving. The North Center of downtown is going to be completely transformed in the next 2-3 years and with more downtown residents it’s going to fuel more growth on the edges expanding the core slightly.

I hope they can hold to their planned start in 2020; hopefully the first half of the year.
The two buildings facing Nash Square are going have a striking impact with only for tree canopy in front of them.

Rendering fail with those ghost towers in the State government district

It’s really not that bad. The 3 tall ghost towers don’t exist, true. But the others kinda match.

Dec 9th will have two Adjustment petitions on the Nexus. Revised dimensions outside city regs and height increase for roof top utilities.

Also fun stuff not sure if this was ever mentioned by anyone but 3 underground stories of parking. So this will have a deep construction pit.

Wow I am very happy to hear at least some will be underground but that will take so long to build!

Anyone have a big hole they need filled in
