Heritage, Wake Forest. Or SUBURBAN HELL, as I call it.
Wake Around & Find Out.
I heard that you could see the skyline from Glenwood-Brooklyn. ![]()
I think it’s true! Extra characters.
Not Raleigh but you can see the Charlotte skyline 70 miles away from an overlook right by the Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Took this from my cell phone today but a better real camera would have captured it better. It is clear to naked eye if you look on the horizon. However on clear days with no humidity like today you can see the skyline. Our tallest buildings are 871 and 750+ feet standing 740 feet or so above sea level and this is from over 4000 feet above sea level.
Charlotte skyline to center left on the horizon shot faintly but clearer with your own eyes.
Update on this one. No, you can’t see downtown Raleigh from the Cane Creek Mountains. It is blocked by hills in between.
However, you can see Chapel Hill. I’ll go back and get a clearer shot some time. This was in the background while I was looking at something else. I could totally zoom in more if I’d known it was there.
Greensboro is also easily visible.
Durham and Raleigh are not. Although the view is still worth a trip some time if you can make it up here and aren’t too skittish about heights.
