Future of Glenwood South

It’s been handled. Haven’t had a troll in awhile so I think we had a pretty good run, all! :grinning:

I was tempted to message you on the side to see if we could look into what a troll emoji would look like. :grimacing:

Also, thank you.

I’d love to see a condo development like this one on these three? lots where the McDonald’s is located.

From the Glenwood South newsletter.

"New Four Way Stop Signs

New four way stop signs will be added soon to the intersections at Johnson and West Streets and Johnson and Boylan Ave. GSNC advocated for the addition of these four way stop signs due to the increase in traffic on Johnson Street. The four way stop on West Street will facilitate pedestrian access to Smoky Hollow and Publix."

Ayy! Been advocating for the Johnson & West Street 4 way stop. They still need stop signs on West & Tucker though, as I believe the majority of the Glenwood crowd will be using that cross to get to Smoky Hollow. But it’s a start!

Have they done anything at Johnson & Harrington yet? That one might need a signal

That one will be in the states hands I believe since a ramp is involved so good luck

These are sorely needed, and I’m delighted to hear that they are coming! Johnson/West is particularly dangerous. Now they need to do something about cars parking all the way to the intersections on weekend nights in the neighborhood.

Just walked by West & Johnson. The stop signs have already been installed. But just watched 3 people blow by the signs in a matter of 60 seconds, some road markings will definitely be helpful.

Need to install some Bulb-outs!

That would be amazing for pedestrians, and it would also prevent cars from parking all the way up to the corners on weekends. With the way cars are parked, most drivers probably can’t see the stop signs.

I’m curious to see what, if anything, the new lane alignment does to street-side parking. Pulling out of the SH deck on either West or Harrington is stressful, to put it mildly. Not just a byproduct of parked vehicles, but the exit plaza’s position along the road curve makes for an obscured view in both directions. Would love to see them add mirrors, even.

I have a similar issue coming out of my garage on Boylan. The slope of the entrance and its position on the hill + the parking along the curb, makes it nearly impossible to see if a car is driving north on Boylan. I often have to poke my car nose out a bit and crane my neck to make sure that I can go. As luck would have it, there are usually the largest of trucks and vans parked nearest the garage exit that makes it especially difficult to see beyond/around them. With the new 4 way stop at Boylan and Johnson, it at least slows down the traffic in the corridor and makes the area safer for everyone.
The value proposition for pedestrians in addressing these car issues is that slowing down through traffic for cars should also make the general environment safer for those on foot/bike. Now we just have to get the scooters to NOT run stop signs and red lights.

That headline doesn’t make sense.

If you read the full article (it’s pretty short), it’ll make more sense. We’ve talked about parking enforcements and scooter dropoff zones on other threads, but it’s nice to see the city doubling down on them in Glenwood.

I meant grammatically it doesn’t make sense. “Stepping up enforcement against criminal charges…”?

Noise is a problem, I stayed at AC Thursday night and could not get to sleep until 2am due to pumping base from one of the clubs. Will not stay there again.

Very interesting. And how much was your room?
