I used to go to Red Room on Sunday nights for their specials. I really enjoyed those evenings but I’ve never stepped foot in that space since it closed.
I’ve been waiting a long time for the Raleigh location for Krave to open. There is another bar that serves kava (RaleighRaw) but it focuses more on tea and smoothies.
Weird why that location cycles through so many changes. On any typical weekend, that corner has always been busy regardless of what has been there. Social club always seemed packed to me. Odd.
I also liked Red Room. One of the few spots I visited before I moved here. Is the Madison actually moving forward though? I feel like that’s in even more limbo than the Creamery, or at least seems frustratingly unstarted like the Creamery if they’re not actually in limbo
You’re talking about Krave Kava over off Person?

We stumbled into this place (not drunk, just not planned) a couple of months ago and thought it was great. They could use some work to make the place more welcoming, but love the concept.
This was actually a different brand entirely, just with the same name. Local concept.
You’d have to ask some of the permit sleuths on the board as to why the Madison is going so slow when it was ‘supposed’ to start in 2022 as I have no clue. Definitely agree it’s going frustratingly slow for sure.
The Alexan’s another nearby rental that’s stalled out. Interesting as the new rentals that finally do come on the market get more and more expensive.
I wouldn’t say its stalled out. That one has also had tons of back and forth with the city on ground floor transparency and setbacks, etc.
Wonder if lots of these delays are understaffing / backlog in the city department?
Thought Cornerstone was closing at the end of '22 but Google says its still open. Its closure would be a good sign.
Yes specifically. My wife’s GC has begun branching out into Knightdale, Clayton and Kinston. The city is MONTHS behind on projects currently in review and approval process. Forget it if your looking to begin a new project, your looking at a year or more depending on the scale
The Creamery is on their final site permit review. The due date for the review is 1/5. So, maybe by the end of the week or early next week they will get their site permits. This will allow them to get started on the site work. I do not see a submittal for the building permit yet.
We can all mark it as closed on Google Maps. I do that a lot when I’m bored.
Fingers crossed
The big assemblage on the south side of Johnson St. between Boyland and St. Mary’s is set for a public hearing on 1/24:

Whatever restaurant that was supposedly going into 110 Glenwood seems to have given up. There’s a for sale sign on it now.
I thought that was supposed to be a Fiction Kitchen offshoot before the pandemic, but the construction project has been insanely slow. I guess with them moving to Gateway Plaza, they decided to end it?
