Future of Glenwood South

Condos could be denser though.

No doubt they could be, but good luck getting the necessary pre build commitment needed from buyers to get financing to build condos.

I’m giving praise to any scenario where a couple of SFH lots transition to townhouses in or near DTR.

Looks like we’re getting another railway pillar mural. The ones on W Johnson Street are some of my favorite murals in Raleigh.

I hope it’s a mural of a cart in front of a horse, in honor of the high speed rail line that wanted to use all the undeveloped property next door

The new art is coming along. I’m digging it so far. It’s being done by @J.Massullo.art

Those are great! Some of the best in town IMO.

I agree. They are head and shoulders above some of the more recent murals in the general neighborhood.

Um… UC Santa Cruz already cornered the market for psychedelic slugs.

looks like a blue cheer album cover

Saw on CityPlat’s IG that La Santa signed a lease with them and will be opening up their Mexican inspired cocktail bar La Mala somewhere in downtown Raleigh.

I’ve never been. But they already have a La Mala in downtown Durham.

La Santa is deeply mediocre food-wise, but La Mala is a really strong concept - the Durham one looks great.

After teaching myself to pronounce Kamala as “Calm Allah” instead of “kuh-MAL-la” I find La Malla annoying. I keep saying “llama-la” and my wife corrects me each time. The food and drinks and service and ambiance were on point though. So there’s that…

We love La Santa. I’m not picky when it comes to food and they’re consistently good IMO. Looking forward to checking out the new concept.

I agree. I don’t think that the food is bad at all. Is it gourmet? No. Is that what I expect when I go there? …also no.

La Mala has food better than La Santa (which is a shade better than El Rodeo perhaps), not as good as Cortez / Centro…IMO - but, reasonable drink program and if it lands on Faye St - then yet another something better than nothing…
