It’s the jungle of overgrown trees behind the retaining wall that is falling down. They’re basing it on the Tuileries Garden in Paris. Rendering below:
It’s not like there isn’t a giant parking garage right behind the building!
It’s not a garden, it’s a park (ing lot) ![]()
Back from a 10-day trip so I’m just catching up but you know DAMN WELL this is EXACTLY what’s gonna end up becoming of this space - if not worse!

Was driving and did not catch a photo, but I spied a new Garden West sign hanging on the facade (just next to the old gym sign lol).
Is it even possible for them to get rid of that painted on logo?
I insane
Imagine that it can be sandblasted.
I don’t mind the mural. It’s a silhouette of DT and says “Raleigh”. Don’t see any issue with leaving it.
…easily lmao - Powerwashing or, as @John suggested, sandblasting would do the trick.
To be fair, it does appear they have gotten rid of the “Crossfit” that used to be painted directly beneath it, so it seems they’ve left the “Raleigh” and skyline mural on purpose… just looks a liiiiiil silly with this new “Garden West” sign overlapping the art a bit… oh well!
seems like a good building to cover with comissioned street art tbh
Surprised they didn’t put this sign on the left side of this wall. It looks odd this close to the parking deck and overlapping the previous mural.
Was just about to say the same thing. Seems blindingly obvious to put it on the left.
Agreed on the mural clashing with the sign, driving me crazy.
I imagine a future tenant might want signage on that left corner, so I can see why they placed the sign on the right side.
The Garden West signage should be above the mural, on top of the building.
Honestly with the fire signage and HVAC all facing the street, this was never going to be an amazing facade. But they would do well to hire some artists to fill out the rest of the wall, then it’d look fine imo.
This is the biggest bait and switch since the shipping container bar at the other end of Glenwood that has been teased for about 10 years
Maybe since it’s called Garden West, they should’ve made it a living wall.
