West Street Dog is the indoor dog bar / hotel concept going into the 400W building. Though a hot dog concept in Smoky Hollow would be nice!
The Merchant (Former Level Up) will open soon, I know the individual installing the counter-tops, this is his picture.
No hot dog “concept” will compare to the Cardinal. Just had 2 Cardinal dogs last night. They’re the best in the city hands down.
Most excited for “Taylor White Gallery Pop-up” though I’d love for her to have a permanent gallery/public studio space downtown. She’s a gem and very well known in the art/mural community at large.
Yeah the gallery sounds awesome. Do we know where this is going?
No idea but my best guess is one of those empty storefronts in the Alexander Square parking deck that were recently announced to have pop-up galleries!
Actually I think The Merchant should be open now. If not, the soft opening is mid next week and shortly thereafter open. I may be getting my weeks mixed up.
June 8th is the full open.
Zambero looks to have vacated their location in One Glenwood. All signage is down.
Yeah I saw that despite opening new locations in the Triangle, they permanently closed this one. Kind of frustrating because they took forever to open, and then shut down shortly after, with no attempt to reopen even for carry out. They’re dead to me now.
Okay well I just need a business partner and we can get a Mission-style burrito and hard cider shop going. That $9,000 a month rent in DTR though.
This had come up a month or so ago about having a Downtown “Bright Lights” district. Looks like the city reads us here. https://cityofraleigh0drupal.blob.core.usgovcloudapi.net/drupal-prod/COR22/TC-07-21.pdf
This seems very specific to only the convention center and the Memorial Auditorium complex?
Wonder what facade (or facades) they want a digital screen up to 25’x30’ for the convention center.
Not even Memorial qualifies because of the no less than 10,000 capacity limit placed on it. I suppose that this means the main convention floor is at least 10,000 capacity?
Apparently that announcement was just for the elite people in the know. They’ve made another announcement for the general public. Sounds like they’re going to be adding things to the menu all week and then post the full menu at that point. I’m excited to see what they do; it’s a great space and I’m glad it’s part of the N. Person St district after a couple previous failures in that location.
Also saw this, since I’m elite and didn’t want to wait.
I think anyone on this forum that’s active with DTR things knows there’s an effort to get the expanded restaurant seating to be more permanent but it’s getting some news exposure as well.
Unreal that it took a global pandemic for the city of Raleigh NORTH CAROLINA to consider expanding OUTDOOR seating for restaurants lmaooooo
I’m 100% all for this! But some of the bars/restaurants need to invest a little more on their outdoor dining. The big orange and white barricades don’t cut it.
I’d like to see a grant program that will allow for some places to improve their outdoor dining in downtown.
Yeah, it’s interesting that the article focuses on parking so much and not overall appearance/pedestrian interface. I would think there would have to be some infrastructure investment to support this as a long term effort, but it would be well worth it.
