Didn’t you see Edward Scissorhands?

No I didn 't see it. :scissors: :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:t3:

Raleigh Mag is claiming Katsuji Tanabe’s Mexican restaurant in Crossroads is opening next week.

Kinda a bummer that he went from a prominent spot in City Market downtown, to a damn strip mall in Cary - and one of the most frustrating to drive around, at that.

I’m still really pissed (not at him obviously) about High Horse closing, but I guess I can try to get over it and just enjoy this place. Excited to check it out!

Been hearing about this from them all through COVID. Is it open yet? Any pics?

Yeah I agree, at least it’s on the not as crazy side. I think it’s going to be in the Kohls/Ale House side. I’ll give it a try since they’re claiming this:

In addition to Tanabe’s fare, A’Verde will also feature a massive tequila selection that the restaurant’s team thinks might be the biggest collection in the Triangle, if not the state.

Let’s put the best tequila selection in North Carolina in… a strip mall location you have to drive in and out of. Perfect!

But hey, if you live in the area, there’s a wide, safe, median divided stroad to help get you home without clipping a pedestrian

You can still get his cornbread at Vidrio from his stint there. I remember seeing him selling stuff at the North Hills Farmers Market after High Horse closed. Found it depressing but respected him for doing it until he could find something else.

In all fairness, one of the best whiskey bars in the Southeast is sandwiched between a Food Lion, a Subway and a Jazzercise gym in north Raleigh.

As @Francisco said - peak Triangle culture

In all seriousness, I don’t think I’ve seen another metro area of its size that so actively encourages drunk driving, between the several spread-out downtowns, patchy public transit that doesn’t cover sporting events, middling ride-share service, and spread of destination bars and breweries throughout the suburbs.

I mean we could take it a step further, and analyze a society that so enthusiastically embraces alcohol culture, yet vehemently bans other substances like MDMA which clarifies a user’s experience of reality and grants a greater connection to the world around them. :man_shrugging:
