Not downtown news. But Wawa’s are going to be coming to NC! If you know, you know

As a southerner who married a northerner (Pennsylvania) I fully understand how big a deal this is. Every time we road trip we go out of our way to find one. I’m sure all the transplants around here will love it. It’ll be interesting to see them go head to head with all the Sheetz around here.

Yeah - WaWa is like a Sheetz, but way better.

Like Wa Wa better?

Its a gas station……just because its a gas station “from up north”……doesn’t make it anything more than….a gas station…with a stupid name.

Same thing happened with Wegmans. People lost their minds over a damn grocery store. “Because it was sooo much better than anything we have down South…”. It sells groceries & toilet paper & toothpaste…grocery stores down here only sell tires apparently.

Wawa food is the best, surprisingly good for it being a gas station. The hype is warranted in my opinion.

No - not just because it’s ‘from up north’

I’m from up north, I’ve never been to one, and I think it’s not the part that I’m from. But we always made fun of the name on road trips. I wouldn’t eat gas station food unless I was starving to death, but I get that people love Sheetz food. Apparently Wawa is the same way. Not gonna judge.

The best thing about Wegmans is they have cheap truffle butter and that’s important to me. Lol

No gas station food? Good lawrd, you are are missing out brother.
Buc-ee’s has pretty darn good brisket, and a lot of other good looking food.
But a lot of small crossroads stations have some really good food. The chicken-on-a-stick at the Chevron in Oxford Miss is famous!! That chevron was always out go to late-night spot, lol. (There is no waffle house Oxford).

Lol literally none of that sounds appealing to me

And here’s the full list if anyone wants to see it. I always like to look at who is nominated in my favorite cities like Nola and DC.

Benne on Eagle in Asheville is magical. Probably my best meal last year.
Garland is obviously a wonderful choice, I’ve never had a bad meal there.

Raleigh Wineshop in East Downtown Raleigh is now open. Walked passed it and it was full of people inside on the outside as well.
