Had dinner at St. Roch’s on Friday. 1st time there. Best meal I’ve had in months. What a great restaurant.
The No Bullshit salad is amazing. Everything we’ve had there has been great.
I didn’t care for the oysters because I don’t like oysters.
Actually the No BS salad topped with fried oysters is one of my fave cheat codes there…!
Saw recently there’s a duck confit on the menu, gotta get back for that while it’s around…
The Raleigh Magazine has a podcast and they dropped a new episode today about upcoming new restaurants. Apparently Kane and co. have something lined up restaurant-wise for the rooftop space in the Dillon and they should be announced in the very near future
It’s around the 21:00 mark of the most recent episode for those who wanna hear them say it for yourself.
That’s fantastic news. So sad luang prabang or whatever it was gonna be called never happened.
That’s fantastic news! She said it will be a local concept too which is good to hear as well.
That space has the most potential of any restaurant space in the city. The views are incredible
Great news! That is a fantastic space and I have been waiting for something to go in. Looking forward to the announcement!
Like @GucciLittlePig I was sorry the previous concept didn’t happen.
For sure they have great views now and will only get better as all the towers like RUSBUS, Civic Campus, the new Bloc83 towers, and the Nexus (we can all hope) all get built up.
While the original management were a strange, problematic crew, they’ve cleaned out the weirdos, and Bida Manda/Bhavana are a rare thing in Raleigh: a world-class concept you can’t get in almost any other American city.
At least the original restaurants are still thriving, and hopefully the new thing at the Dillon can live up to that standard versus just being a regular “nice” restaurant.
It’ll be interesting if Kane and the new owners linked up for this rooftop space again, or if they went with another local concept. The Raleigh Mag people only teased it as ‘local concept’ so who knows honestly.
I feel like speculating about how family members impact the entire family and owned business is a bit off topic for this thread. I get the connection, but I don’t think it’s constructive for this forum by any means.
Can we stop the negativity and focus on what we’d like to see in the Dillon space?
My main point is that they’re most likely viewed as poison to any investors now, so I highly doubt they’ll have any involvement going forward, and probably for the better (it would just be a bad look and probably get a LOT more unwanted negative attention than not). I would like to see something completely different up there. What? Idk.
Something with firepits though… something about sitting around a firepit up there just sounds cool to me. Maybe hot dogs.
I like the idea of fire pits but I can just imagine the fire departments going a little nuts over the idea of having intentional fire halfway up a tower.
New phone, who dis?
Not certain I’ve seen any word about this in this thread yet. New macaron concept coming to the ground level of the One Exchange Plaza building.
Anyone know of they are a chain? The couple of stock images mounted inside the window suggests so, but it might just be posters to gain folks’ awareness.
Interesting they choose to open this type of shop just a couple of blocks or so between both Lucette Grace and Amorino. Wishing their success though
Aren’t they in MSFH? Maybe I’m wrong?
I think this topic has been discussed in a few different threads. The Social District “trial” kicks off Monday at 10:30a (see post in the Meet Up thread re: Crank Arm). Here’s an article from N&O explaining the Social District.
Over 70 businesses have signed up, btw! Another note of clarification is if you have a drink from a participating business (in a marked cup), while you can go into other non-bar businesses that are participating, you cannot go into another bar with the previous bar’s drink.
