Read With Me (children’s bookstore) across from GoRaleigh station is closing at the end of the month. I can’t say I’m too surprised, but it’s a bummer to lose an independent bookstore that did a lot of children’s programs.
What are these books you speak of? I’m pretty sure all kids do now is play on their iPads and run around breweries.
Just popped in today, sad to see it go just as we had our kid. They’re selling everything, including the art, book stands, furniture, even a nice label maker.
Man, need to get you to Pittsboro for some Zen. Mid sized city life can be stressful. Parking is free in downtown Pittsboro when you come. Soooo instead of tipping the city that $2 for parking help out the friendly waitress or waiter at the many thriving establishments we have here.
Gas to get there and back would cost me more than parking…oh wait, I just walk to places downtown.
From what I understand, they aren’t closing due to lack of business, but rather the owner is moving overseas and she couldn’t find a buyer to keep the shop going.
The walk to the vape shop on Peace gets old. Get on that Lime scooter and roll up hwy 64. Keeping this on topic. IKEA still scouting around the Triangle according to a commercial real estate contact. Cary/Apex area.
Oh, my feelings are so hurt. How oh how will I recover from that burn?
I’m super bummed Read With Me is closing. They were great at helping me find books that the kids in my life love.
That said, all is not lost for children’s books downtown. A new children’s bookstore, Liberation Station, just opened on Fayetteville St. I’m looking forward to checking them out.
I can afford to do both and so can you.
Recommend checking out Madre’s Instagram stories, they posted a few sneak peaks. They might be raising the stakes for interior design for restaurants / ambiance in Raleigh that a few have mentioned we are missing.
They absolutely killed it. Madre is freaking gorgeous. Hope their interior designer they hired gets more projects downtown from it.
Yeah I was just looking at those pics. Really nice looking. Probably gonna give them a few weeks to work out the kinks, but I’m excited to go.
They have a cool plant/floral installation going in the ceiling too that isnt in any of their pictures yet. Looks pretty cool. Shout out to my former neighbor Feature Flora who is doing the plant stuff.
This could be a game changer for Smokey hollow. Hopefully this place often has a wait on weekend nights which will spill over into adjacent businesses
Your arteries will thank you tho. LOL
Those ain’t even scoops, they’re practically scrapes!
“2 scrapes of ice cream plz”
“Would you like an oversized waffle cone to make the scrapes look even smaller?”
“OBVIOUSLY!”
It’s like they were scooped with a melon scoop. LOL
They actually weren’t THAT small, but they were tiny nonetheless. I’ll stick with walking to Talley on State’s campus for some Howling Cow.
