Also forgot the law school is across the street.

I remember when you used to have a job and live in Raleigh…

This thread about pizza got hijacked by people talking about general retail/restaurant news. To get us back on track, I’d like to say I might’ve been a bit harsh on Buffalo pizza. I forgot how horrible Chicago deep dish is. It’s not even really pizza.

We just ate at Anthony’s La Piazza in the AC Hotel on Glenwood. It was really good Italian. We met Anthony himself. He’s a really nice guy from NY. He’s starting with a small menu and will gradually increase it.

Well ok! That’s encouraging actually, I have wondered how many of the newer office buildings have actually been filled with tenants.

I like Jubala but the Hillsborough St location is quite the walk and full of college students. This location I may frequent more if the coffee is good and the interior is nice.

I have Little Native just a block from me and it seems decently popular. People seem to walk the two blocks needed to reach it. Which is amazing since people hate walking in general in America.

*people hate walking in the Sun Belt. Especially in the summer.

1601 New Bern got new doors recently! Can’t wait to see what else might be coming into this space!

I walk 5+ miles every day, in the Sunbelt, and even in the Summer.
That said, I walk early AM or early in the evening to avoid the worst of the heat/humidity. The last that I checked, coffee is mostly consumed in the early AM.
Then again, I’m the oddball out there it seems.

We’re on the same page! But looking at my neighbors and friends, we are definitely the oddballs.

That’s because you love the heat and are a lizard.

Offline Raleigh shared on their social media that The Yard Cafe & Dog Park will be opening in the Boylan Heights neighborhood.

I hope it’s unpopular. I wouldn’t want there to be too much traffic driving through Boylan Heights. Those poor rich residents…

Its a beautiful place. Staten Isls d is not like the rest of NYC. its has a suburban feel its like the rest of America.

Hopefully they keep all dogs and maybe humans on shock collars so they don’t bark and bother the residents in Boylan Heights!

Not Raleigh but ties into some themes we’re seeing with taprooms and breweries closing:
Fullsteam Closing Downtown Durham Location

Article says rises in rent are untenable and that they hope to relocate. RTP taproom stays open.

FWIW, I don’t need to be educated about Staten Island. I’ve been there.
When I mentioned the demographics, I was referring to the enormous Italian-American community there (largest % in the country I think) and its relationship to good pizza.

Well since you mention it, I should mention that I’m Italian too and therefore am also an authority on good pizza, and I will reconfirm that Buffalo pizza is objectively better than NYC pizza (which is still 10/10 good pizza, that’s just how great Buff pizza is) :pinched_fingers: :pinched_fingers: :pinched_fingers:

I will also confirm @GucciLittlePig notion that Chicago “pizza” is not real pizza but whatever it is, it’s terrible. (“whatever it is” = bread casserole with a pool of hot ketchup on top. Awful, awful stuff)
