The one in Charlotte is fun. I wonder which building in Seaboard this is going in
Queue up the plastic ivy and neon, stat!
This will, of course, do great - likely just like Jaguar Bolera, etc.
Not my bag, but feels like the wave of inbound ‘eatertainment’ offerings is building…
DID YOU SAY PING PONG CONCEPT???
This will be awesome! I actually had wished for a Pins Mechanical for downtown, but was wishing for it to be on Fayetteville St.
None the less, exciting addition!
I’ve been to the Pins in Columbus, OH and it’s a pretty fun place. This is an awesome grab for downtown, and yes Seaboard is in downtown.
Maybe we don’t need an amphitheater afterall!!
Insomnia Cookies is “coming soon” to 121 Fayetteville St. This is one of the remolded spots in the parking deck, correct?
I think it’s in the old hot dog place, and I think that’s under that garage as you state.
Very happy to see anything opening downtown, and happy to see something with corporate backing (so it doesn’t immediately fold when times get tough) BUT very disappointed with this tenant - that spot is a prime spot for an all-day restaurant (serving real food) - of the kind that is sorely lacking downtown
I think there’s a Diced going in the old hot dog place.
Insomnia is going in the old bottle shop location.
Diced and Primo Subs are going in right there, and Birdie’s is going to be across the street. These options were chosen by Highwoods, so they likely wanted some diversity in that area.
Just had lunch here. Really great food, prices, service, and decor. Apparently Saturday is happy hour pricing, so we got a bottle of cava for $24. That’s the price of a single cocktail in DC where we were 2 weeks ago. Anyways, it’s just a lovely space, and everyone was genuinely friendly. We’re definitely coming back.
Is this the former Cafe Carolina location?
I believe so yes! If they were too busy to seat us, we were going to check out the new location of Cafe Carolina. For another day I guess
We were shocked by the prices here. Pitcher of beer (only 32oz but still) was like $6! That is unheard of in this day. Food and service were great as well. Glad to have this place walkable for us. Great addition to the village district. Now if only something better can go in the old SoCa spot. I like Carolina Cafe just fine, but it sucks driving by that place in the evening and having it dark and closed.
Finally open
Probably one of the best quesadillas I’ve had in a while. Has a real good crunch. They’re doing a soft opening right now. I’d highly recommend trying it out.
Where is this???
Any pictures of the tacos?
Im back in Wroclaw with my girlfriend and we found a 100% authentic Mexican taco place run by a real Mexican in the city center. I guess you can no longer say Europe has bad Mexican food.
Chidos is not to my expectations.
I think most people acknowledge that Europe’s problem isn’t that good Mexican food doesn’t exist there at all, it’s that the average “Mexican” restaurant there is a crime against flavor.
I have French coworkers and when they made it to our side of the ocean they spent an hour in a Mexican market looking at all of the pepper varieties - most French markets just sell “chilis.”
It’s over in-between DGX/Skyhouse and across from City Market.
Not yet, but I’ve got high expectations after that quesadilla.
I also mentioned to the owner that I walked by often and asked what took so much time. He mentioned it was a combination of needing to convert from electric to gas and a lot of the permits.
Just to be certain - this is an offshoot of the taco truck that posts up out off Western Boulevard (by the Western Wear ) not an extension of Taqueria El Toro out off Tryon - correct ?
Either way, glad they made it through the opening gauntlet. Look forward to trying.
