General Retail/Restaurant News

This is in my neck of DTR, and I’m excited to hear it’s good. Riparian has turned into a great community asset with wine tastings, kids’ toys in the back, trivia, live music every now and then, interesting beverages both alcoholic and NA, and gifts. With the addition of Crofton’s next door, I’m seeing this little strip as more functional as a casual night out, plus this is fairly easily walkable to the forthcoming Benchwarmers, and other retail spots at The Row.

Over between Johnson St Yacht Club and the Peace St McDonald’s, Vino Wine Bar has opened at 606 Gaston Street. It is described as an Italian-inspired lounge featuring artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and specialty coffee.

Ridgewood renovations coming along. Mostly done except for the new restaurant. Happy to see this very tired looking area get a little face-lift.

We checked out The Bike Library this morning. A very cool spot along Dupont Drive and the coffee shop mix with bicycle-theme, I’m into it.

Well, it’s not Gucci, but Raleigh is getting a Rolls-Royce dealership, offering exclusive, bespoke cars. According to Raleigh Mag, it will only be the second dealership in existence (the other is in Dubai). Naturally, this is going in on Capital Blvd as the prime car dealership strip.

Since we’re in the same company as Dubai now, I request one Burj Khalifa like building for our skyline.

Truly couldn’t care any less about this one in particular lmao

Okay so we can’t get an Ikea, but we can this?

Nothing says bespoke luxury like Capital Boulevard north of the Beltline.

I am sure you will be shopping here once this dealership is up and running. lol.

When I think of Rolls Royces, I usually picture them driving through Dubai or Capital Blvd, so this seems like a natural fit. I’ll have to trade in my Genesis G80 for a custom Rolls Royce Phantom.

Unrelated, how do you feel about selling our house?

Only if I win the lottery. Lol.

That’s a no from me, sir.

You can borrow my Rolls, but you have to chauffeur me in it when you are using it! I’ll let you hang some Gucci fuzzy dice from the mirror tho so people know it’s you behind the wheel because I don’t have the windshield tinted.

Fuzzy dice AND Capital Boulevard. My heart can’t handle that much bespoke luxury!

Raleigh Mag on IG just shared that Sunflowers (formerly located where the Hyatt House is now at Seaboard) will be reopening in The Row apartment building, which is the same spot the new Benchwarmers will be. It will also have a bar for the nighttime crowd.

…and close to the sunflower field at Dix!

Don’t know if anyone saw over the weekend, but Lefthook Coffee have delayed (with no word on timing) the opening of their 912 E Hargett St store, claiming permitting/fundraising issues for the delay…they’re opening a small counter at their production facility near St Augs - sucks not to have them opening on E Hargett (which is quite close to me)

Can I have a ride in the Rolls to the new Rolls Royce Bespoke dealership along with a shake from CookOut? @GucciLittlePig I will be there on Sunday afternoon.

I saw that they’ll have a pool hall as part of the equation. I’ve been to few pool halls in my lifetime and the environment at most was, let’s just say, a little sketchy. I’ll be curious to see what kind of clientele this location attracts.

Apparently, there is a tradition for new ABC stores in the state to hold a “bourbon raffle” around the holidays. However, because of a lack of parking, they will not have it at the new Salisbury Street location. The raffle can bring in upwards of 500 folks, vying for hard-to-find bourbons.

This is the craziest shit I have heard in a while. There’s literally a parking deck across the street and two more within two blocks with thousands of parking spaces. Arguably, there is more parking near this ABC Store than 90% of them in the state (made up that stat, but you know what I mean).

They may mean there is a lack of free parking, but I would argue that anyone willing to spend $$ on bourbon is fine paying $6 to park their cars in a deck for the morning.
